I will, however, be happy to dust his britches! Thanks Pete for the videogate so I could here what my old Midland sounded like!

Darn, I just missed Doc Hammer in there around 12:20 PM Sunday. I walked into the shack, flipped on the FT101 because it was still on line from last night and there you were, loud and clear in skip land asking for 441.
Since the FT101 was stone cold I frantically was swapping coax to the 2995, then the mic wouldn't modulate. Shack Attack...I started smacking it and the battery cover flew off into a black hole somewhere. Here I must have a loose wire/pin on the back of the 2995 mic jack. 10 minutes later after it was working again and poof, you were gone.
When we hear ya we sure do try!!

I was actually in the shack this morning when Doc Hammer was "hammering"my meter up into the Night Train area between S9 and +10 over. I made a couple of comments but either he didn't recognize me and ignored me, or for some strange reason he didn't hear me. Didn't really have time to get into a conversation so I left it at that. But it was ironic that he was stronger 9and louder) than he usually is when he's "local"...

Well, I think tonight I'm going for a "mobile rig" theme. I want to try out my recently acquired Realistic TRC-465, and then I may throw on my J.C. Penney 40 channel Cybernet chassis radio that I modified the heck out of 20 some years ago.

what mod # on the jc penneys rig 6214, I believe. It's hard to remember off-the-wall model numbers. It's the same guts as the Midland 77-882, the Lafayetted HB-640, and a number of other similar radios.

Good Bunch-O-0perators in there on 2/13!
I was running the Sonar Model G spot with a powered D104 for the first hour, then switched up to the Sears Roadtaker 40 "slant faced" SSB base/ mobile with a 2018 Extreme mic for the second half. Turns out there was another operator out in the distance with a Sears Roadtalker as well and we exchanged signal reports with each other. It sure is fun to swap radios for the second half of CRR.

I like to swap around as well. That way more rigs get a little exercise....... And if not radios, I'll swap mics around.
