I'll jump in on Hillbilly's apology and send my own along for being absent from the forum and the airwaves. It has been a challenging summer for sure. Here on the homefront, we have been faced with a number of big ticket items that have put the squeeze on us financially, and the focus has been on work, work, work. We had a construction project on the house, had to tie into a public sewer system, and just recently found out the the air conditioner/ furnace needs to be replaced in the very near future (within the month). On top of these major expenses, I have had to replace a fuel pump in my Suburban, put 4 tires on my wife's car, and purchase a used 4 cylinder daily beater to offset the fuel costs. My heating oil budget will go up $100 a month starting this month...yippee! And the icing on the cake is the uncertain future of my employment, because the property my employer rents was sold to a new landlord this summer, and our lease expires in January. Will the lease be renewed? ? Any one of these things would be enough for me in one year. All of them coming at this time doesn't make you jump for joy. Radio has taken a back seat for obvious reasons. Hope you all have had a less stressful summer than I have. If nothing else, I keep on smiling ;D

If nothing else, I keep on smiling ;D Wow, that's a bunch of crap to have to deal with at once. It makes my complaints of not being able to afford the gas for the camper and boat seem trivial. But there's something about seeing something of mine depreciating right before my eyes without being able to use it, that just drives me bananas. Anyway, I hope the light at the end of the tunnel is close at hand Paul. Classic Radio Roundup can certainly use your presence when you feel up to it....

Was wondering where you had gone. And as mentioned earlier, don't kill yourself. You gotta' allow yourself to come up for air once in a while. The whole radio thing seems to be dropping out of my own interests. I don't get here as much as I had, but then...I'm not all that familiar with classic radios. And ok, even newer radios. And I got the ham license a little while ago, joined a local ham club, but some of those places just don't seem to bother with newbies very much. And I got laid off a few weeks ago, and found a much better job quickly but I started this past Monday and just getting into it. Getting used to 10-hour days is a bit rough, and getting up at 4:00 am also takes some getting used to. But the plus side of it is I have three day weekends now, with Fridays off. But since being laid off, there hasn't been any unemployment checks coming in yet so now I have been moonlighting as a CNC AutoCad programmer for the company that laid me off. Yeah, sounds weird I guess, but after i found the new job, the old place wanted me back. Too late now.... So for me, its just getting used to the new job. Right now, I get home around 5:00 pm, take the dog out, eat some dinner, sit at the computer and stare for a spell and then its off to sleep. So, no complaints really. Just too tired for the time being, I guess.

Back when I was young, dumb, and, well some of you will know the rest, I worked like that. Out of necessity more than anything. Had a full time job with the Federal Govt. and worked two part time jobs. Worked a Mon - Thurs 10 hr shift for Uncle Sam, went to one part time job every evening, but then on Fri Sat and Sun I would work the one part time job all day and part of the evening, then Fri and Sat nights, after leaving the one part time job I went to the other at a nightclub until 4 AM and then back to work at 6. Boy was I stupid! But I was going through a divorce, had alimony, child support and needed a place of my own so did what I had to do. Thank God those times are past me. Hillbilly ... I feel for you!
