This guy hasn't posted a blog on his website since about April. He mentioned he was going thru a bitter divorce, in which his wife essentially locked him out and had all his gear. He was worrying about even being able to keep it even if he did get his hands on it. Has anyone heard from him and how he is doing?

I had thoughts of dropping him a note to see how he's been doing. I may just do it. And you're right, it's been a long while since he last updated his blog. I hope he's doing ok.....

My 3 favorite CB websites are yours, Woody's, and Shadowstorms (not including info sites like this and CB Tricks). I didn't know Woody, but his comments on his divorce bothered me. I have 3 close friends who got divorce, and all 3 got taken to the cleaners regarding child support costs. Each had to move in with his parents, because none could afford even a 1 bedroom apt with the money that was left over. One guy had to resort to working part time as a limo driver because his full time job check went to his wife. It made me very bitter about the family justice system. I think men get the short end of the stick. I hope he didn't get screwed.

I think men get the short end of the stick. I hope he didn't get screwed. That's just wrong on so many levels. I was always under the impression that they determined child support based on what you could afford to pay AFTER your reasonable living expenses were deducted from your pay. But if they told me that most of my pay was being taken and I'd only get the crumbs left over, that would be more than enough incentive to quit and become a welfare bum...... I'd also demand control over how MY funds were to be spent. That way the kids would be sure to get it, and not the wardrobe of the ex....... In Woody's case, I got the impression that his wife was getting increasingly bitter about all the time he spent buying, selling and playing with radios. Sort of like a football widow, and I think she tried her best to stick it to him in the end. And again, I am bewildered by the whole thing. Certainly, if my wife wanted out, I'd be damned if I would allow her to lock me out of the house that I'm making the mortgage payments on. In the end, I might be forced to leave, but I'm taking my stuff with me, and I don't think there's any legal means to stop it. It all falls under the heading of "personal belongings".... But every state is different. I'm just glad that Pa. is not an alimony state.

That can mean more than one thing at a time. It happens so many times. My wife could break me if she did that. Right after we started dating I told her my radio equipment would never be up for discussion if we split up. I'd give her everything except my 4x4, guns, and radio equipment. It ain't much but it's mine. BC

Update. He just posted on his CB Daze blog on Sept 8. ANd the news is not good. His ex is selling his radios on ebay. So he is warning people that many were not in working condition. And to add insult, she is referencing his CB Gazette website.
Man, talk about stick the knife in and twisting it.

I hope he faired the storm ok.

Sure enough! Stumbled across the Ebay store "Collect-me-nots". Says right there, that it used to be named CBGAZETTE. Location is listed as Sealy, TX. That's where Woody was living before the split. Here's the store page. stores.ebay.com/COLLECTMENOTS-Beads-and-What-notGot mixed emotions about this stuff. Gotta find my old link to Woody's blog. 73 P.S. Found it! cbdaze.blogspot.com/

We have too many men in the television and movie industry that don't have enough testosterone in them to know who to sleep with, and too many women that have so much testosterone in them that they think they are men. Year after year the general public is bombarded with the image of the weak male and the strong confident woman until the laws change to reflect it. Just watch tv commercials. Almost all of them show the strong confident wife, and a wimpy bumbling incompetent husband. There was a divorce case in the middle east where a woman wanted to divorce her husband, so the courts made her pay her husband back for all the years he took care of her. Sorry to hear about Woody. I have never been married, and it is stories like these that convince me staying single was the right move.

I have never been married, and it is stories like these that convince me staying single was the right move. Well, you can thank political correctness for much of that. After years of the type of women portrayed in shows like "The Honeymooners" becoming stereotypical, the feminists cried foul, so now you can't show a woman in anything other than the strong confident role. But it's perfectly ok for the women who display this confident attitute, to do so at the expense of men who have now been stereotyped as inept, beer swilling, sports fanatics who couldn't find their butts (much less the TV remote) with both hands, and if it wasn't for their female "handlers" to save them from themselves, they'd starve to death, or blow themselves up doing some repair that they're evidently far to incompetant to handle by themselves. The same thing goes for other "protected" minorities. It would seem that that white male is the only commodity that is fair game for lampooning or serious criticism.

If kids are involved then the man should certainly pay his share in raising them, but if there are no kids then it's over. If you quit your job you don't get to keep the paycheck because you've become accustomed to the life style, and if you quit your spouse then you shouldn't get to keep the benefits of being married to them.

I guess this about sums it up.
Definition of Divorce:
The screwing you get for the screwing you got.

I survived a bitter devorce (met on channel 14 in '73) in 1985. In 1986 I met another woman on the CB (paid her child support for 20 years, while paying my ex-wife!). Lost house, bankrupcy. IRS liens
....Now been married over 20 years to beautiful wife (met her on channel 23), bought house in 1988, retired from post office in 2003, bought drive-in theatre in 2008.... She had gastric by-pass, & I had lap-band surgery...What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...I'm getting stronger everyday!
...Woody is very strong. I can tell from reading his life story on his blogs.

Well Night Ranger, I got married ay 35 in 2002, and have a beautiful 2 year old daughter. I am 41 now. However, before I met my wife, I was stuck in a relationship for 9 years, with engagements, disengagements, etc. We finally ended it in 2001, just before I went out and started datin again. Then I met my wife. The bottom line, there is the right one out there, and you just have to be sure. When I dated the beast for 9 years, people pushed me to get married. But I couldn't answer one simple question. Is this the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with? Answer is no. And luckily, it was the right answer, or I would be divorced today.
Another friend got divorced up in Mass. Talk about a freaky state. No kids. Has to pay alimony because he made more than her, even though she worked full time. He had to compensate her to match his income. Well, of course she quit her job after the divorce, and met someone else. Why work when someone is giving you free money?
And Bob, stop meeting women on the CB !

And Bob, stop meeting women on the CB ! With a very few exceptions, most of the women I have met over the CB were butt ugly. There were a few lookers on the CB back in the 1970s and early 1980s, but the further from the CB craze of 1976 I got the uglier the CB women became. At my current age almost all the women have lost their looks, and they have a truck load of kids. I no longer want them, and I damn sure don't want the bill for raising another man's kids. Not everyone gets married, and not every man gets caught.

And Bob, stop meeting women on the CB ! I met my wife on the CB in 1982. She has since soured on radio (probably because I would spend all my free time on it if she didn't complain). I also agree with Night Ranger, good looking female pickin's from the CB were few and far between. There was about a 7:1 male:female ratio to begin with, and only about 20% of those were attractive. The rest had either weight issues or were put together with leftover parts........ Not that I have any room to talk or anything.........

I also saw the women on CB the early 1980's, and it was the same as you and Night Ranger. Every one I met was gravitationally challenged. So I ended that practice back then.
But both of you missed one important detail. Those hefty women had the most mesmerizing, sexist voices you'd ever heard. That is, until you saw them.

There are a few physical features that you can pick up from the sound of a person's voice. If someone is really over weight you will often hear them struggling for a breath while they are talking. Big flabby jaws do seem to have a sound of their own. I can usually tell if a woman is more of the tom boy type by the sound of her voice. A girls attitude towards other males can be a clue as to how physically attractive she might be. Other than that you won't be able to obtain their exact looks until you see them.

All true. Since everyone else is on this subject I can tell you about the female that I met on the radio way back when. She sounded really nice and we arranged to meet at a Kmart parking lot, what a mistake, her side of the car was way lower than the other side and she had a face like a Jack-O-Lantern! I had a heck of a time getting rid of her.

He emailed me and said he took my advice. Hopes to be all over by December. I wished him my best. What advice was that? I thought about E-mailing him to see how he was doing, but I figured that the last thing he wanted right about now was to explain his "situation" to every casual friend he's met over the years. I figured he'd eventually come clean when the time was right. Good to see he's posted a few notes on the blog. Hopefully he's on the downhill side of the mountain.......
