Folks, what is the mod ( as specific as possible as I am still a n00b at working on these radios) to be able to use the manual tuner for transmit as well as receive??
Thanks

If what you want is a specific "This wire color on this lug" kind of guide, you'll need to describe which D201 you mean. They are wired up a bit differently in this department, so it matters.
There are four basic revisions.
1) The original version made in New Hampshire, with the tube sockets mounted in holes punched in the steel chassis deck.
2) The 23-channel pc-board version, with ONLY two tube sockets riveted to the steel deck, and the rest of them mounted on two large printed-circuit boards.
3) The early 40-channel D201A radio with a slug-tuned coil on the top of the receiver board, marked "T100" on the earlier 23-channel radio.
4) The late(r) 40-channel D201A that has two blue toroid coils UNDER the receiver pc board where T100 had been on the older ones.
Each of these variations has differences that affect how you rewire the "Xtal-Man" switch to enable the VFO for transmit mode. The factory wiring allows it to run on receive only.
What's rare is a radio that has never had this done to it. There are a lot of ways to do it, some sloppy, some that work better. If you find an extra, unlabeled toggle switch on the rear panel, or sticking out of the chassis deck inside, that's probably what it's for.
