On Christmas in 1974, I was running my Lafayette Comstat 25 into a Radio Shack "Super Maxim" 1/2 wave ground plane. I received my first ($20) CB license for Christmas that year, with the call sign KIN-4577. Sometimes I'll fire up that radio and try to bring back those old memories. I'm glad I still have it....... My older neighbor got me into CB radio, back in 1973. He used to off road a lot with a group of friends (in Willy's jeeps) and they used CB to stay in touch. My first base radio was a Lafayette HE-15 (received all 23 channels, but you could only have 5 TX crystals installed) and a Lafayette "Range Boost" 1/2 wave antenna (connected with coax from the local Lafayette store). Don't have the radio OR the antenna, wish I still did. Some good time were had on that radio.
