hey spitfire, what is that chime at 11:45? The better half's phone does that every so often, and her dads did it also. Thanks.

NIGHT RANGER!!!! This week I was unable to sit in and listen for any CRR talk. But here is the story. My Girlfriend 574 knows how difficult it is to get on the roundup from this area, unless there is conditions, to South Carolina. She was home last evening and turned on the radio and herd some skip from Florida, so she gave it a shot, Thinking quickly she turned on the gopro just in case that maybe Night Ranger may be listening. Well she called for him and I believe he was on ch 12 and herd bleedover on 13, so he came up on 13 to listen. (hopefully he can confirm that part) She called again and made contact with him. There were a few transmissions made by eachother that can clearly be herd on the video. Go figure the one night that Iam not around I missed it. She was so happy she called me and told me the news, I couldnt believe it!! Then told me that she recorded it, at this point I couldnt wait to get home and listen to the video. Please check out the video below. A good night it was. Please excuse the video quality, 574 rarely talks on the cb radio, thinking fast she reacted and did this for me, knowing how important it meant to me!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_TLfmvQaoY958 whitetail, NW Pennsylvania Read more: grumpy.proboards.com/thread/7728/classic-radio-roundup-2017?page=1#ixzz4YBiERAjr

I was talking to some locals on channel 12 when I heard Pennsylvania come in skip. I went to my other radio table and turned on a Midland 79-892 hooked to my Lazy H with a D&A Raider, and I started listening to channel 13. Out of the blue I heard a girl call for me. I was somewhat surprised as I had not keyed up and said anything. Anyway I answered her, and the rest is on the videogate. Night Ranger

Night Ranger We were hoping for some E-Skip or some other atmospheric voodoo last night during the roundup, since we were going from 60 degree weather to snow and 20's. There was some low level skip in there, I heard a station in Florida, but nothing else. I guess the path was better to NW Pa. than to where we are in the SE.

SDR videogate Here is the videogate from my Browning Golden Eagle Mark III perspective. Browning Golden Eagle videogate Night Ranger What's the distance between you and the other "gate" station? It's interesting to hear how the various stations sound from two very different locations. I liked it up here when my friend Art (KOMX Cosmic Radio) had his SDR receiver on-line. He lives about 20 miles ESE from me, and I used to use his station to do signal checks and I could actually hear some stations better from his location. Unlike Spew Radio, there was no more than a second or two delay, which made it great for a remote receiver. Unfortunately he no longer has it running .....

The best guess with a Google maps approximation on distance is he is about 15 miles from where I am. Night Ranger

I tried an experiment last night. I found out how to spool the Spew Radio audio streamer output to a file. So for the last hour of the roundup, I let it fly. 1 hour's worth of recording yields a file size of about 50 MB in wmv format.

Here's a full 2 hour capture of the Spew Radio Streamer during last night's (4/26) Classic Radio Roundup. Captured from my always on 24/7 Royce 1-640:
