Here is the Station the Browning Equipment came from... The Daughter of the Equipment's Owner had advertised the Equipment... Upon viewing the Photo she handed me there of the Station, my First Response was, Do you have that Advertising Banner Unfortunately, when she then Phoned her Dad living in Florida, I was informed by Him that he had given the Banner to a Good Friend in the Area, before he left for Florida a few years prior... I almost wanted to ask if he stayed in Contact with his Friend, to attempt to Buy the Banner... All of you here must be aware of this Website, already browninglabsinc.com/Plenty of Nostalgia there... I do not often see any of the Browning Memorabilia offered for Sale... An occasional Jacket Patch... An Occasional copy of " The Browning Story "... I never could afford the, Book of Matches ( There were 3 Different Styles of Matchbooks ) www.ebay.com/itm/BROWNING-MATCHES-Golden-Eagle-Mark-II-III-IV-IVA-RARE-/330383096371?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cec5dfa33Attachments:

Ah the infamous browning eagle external speaker I see. A few operators in the area purchased those thinking they were made by browning, haha.

I am sure some of you must have seen People with MK IVA Radios that had Silk-Screened Faceplates rather than the " Stick-On " MK IVA Aluminum Badges... I had a Fellow elsewhere on the Internet INSIST that Browning built the Radio... NOT TRUE... When Browning sold out, the Fellow had purchased what was there... He began to piece together Radios until the Stock ran out... To the Purist or Collector, it is not a Browning... Speaking of... NOT A BROWNING... www.ebay.com/itm/BROWNING-GOLDEN-EAGLE-MARK-III-WITH-GOLD-CASES-/131393970209?pt=US_CB_Radios&hash=item1e97b0e021At least the Seller describes them HONESTLY... I have seen them before and thought they had a certain Appeal... To be " Different ", as I imagine there may be less of these than the Factory Covers... This might be, the Reason I have 1 " Extra " Woodgrained Browning Cover It came in the Package Deal I picked up... Never really thought about it much, until now... As for the Gold Covers, here is what Browning had to say browninglabsinc.com/myths_facts_fallacies.htm

Later MKIVa's were silk screened.

Who really knows, I suppose... Over the Years I have seen much Information on the Internet, simply Vanish... People go Silent Key, no one maintains the Website, Information Lost... I know enough NOT to believe EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET... www.oldtuberadio.com/browning-golden-eagle-mark-iva-rx-silkscreen/I know I had read other Discussions related to the Silk- Screened MK IVA's... I am UNSURE How many times the remaining NOS Tram and Browning Parts changed hands over the Years I know Barkett's Electronics has them now... Before that, Maycom Communications had them... Before that, it gets a little Fuzzy... At one time, I thought there was a fellow named Gary on the West Coast that left the Auctions with something... I FORGET.... I believe he has long Passed Away... As far as Tram History... www.obitsforlife.com/obituary/638324/OCallaghan-Paul.phpI considered ATTEMPTING to Contact any Surviving Family Members in order to possibly obtain any Tram History... I remember Years Ago, I viewed a Website that had extensive Tram History... Photos of the Factories, as I thought Tram started in Massachusetts and later moved to New Hampshire... Who knows....

I am with you there. Any info relating to the history (with anecdotal accounts and pic's) of the "Big Name" companies in the heyday of CB radio would certainly be of interest to us hopelessly nostalgic old farts..... Of course at this stage in the game, it may be hard to separate the truth from the multitudes of rumors that float around.

Nostalgic Old Farts ? I am 54 ? I guess that is Old... I am worn out, before my time... Spinal Fusion Surgery has been recommended to my Neck by 2 Surgeons...It is putting pressure on my Spinal Nerve, pinched Nerves to Arms proven by EMG Testing... I ache 24/ 7... Arms feel like I swam a Mile... Fingers Numb and Tingling... Can't feel Smaller, Nuts, Bolts, Screws and often drop them... One Surgeon said, Keep it up and you could end up in a Wheel Chair and whether I drove it with my Arms or with my Breath, Who knows... Told me to be extra careful Driving, as Whip Lash due to an accident could be more than a Neck Brace... Well, I made a Big Mistake... NEVER watch Videos Online related to a Surgical Procedure, whether Animated or Actual Flash and Blood Videos !!! NEVER Watch Videos of Peoples' Recoveries after Surgery... NEVER , NEVER, NEVER... Most are unhappy, being in more Pain that before the Surgery, still 1 Year and more afterwards... Many had a 2nd Surgery...3rd... NO THANKS !!! They wanted to offer me Cortisone Injections No, I'll Pass... Cortisone is known to Destroy Cartilage... Medicine is less ' Mysterious " today with the Internet... I research it BEFORE I agree or Disagree... I am not a Big Fan of, Try this, Try that... The Insurer and the State Accident Board made me attend Physical Therapy for my Condition... REALLY Like Massages twice Weekly were going to Repair my Spine... IDIOTS !!! It was a total waste of time and money and it would take anyone with common sense alone to come to that conclusion and these people have Medical Degrees and such Nostalgia ? Yes, I grew up with Vacuum Tube Television in Black and White... The Repairman would do House Calls... Times got Hard and Mom used to send me to the Drugstore with a TV Tube to use the Self-Test Stand-Up Tube Tester... Of course, the Druggist used to intercept me and tell me, Let me help you Son... Darn It... I remember, 2 and 3 trips some days, until the bad one was found Mom was No Tech, and apparently did not want to Mix them Up, giving me a few at a time Dad spent most of His Time in the Bars, 7 Days a Week... I used to watch Color TV at Friends' Houses...We were one of the last one's in the Neighborhood to get Color TV... A Used one, given to us by a Neighbor when they Upgraded... I learned at a Young Age, not to ask for Money from Mom, there was never enough... As a Kid at 11, I paid my way in Boy Scouts, Raking leaves, Shoveling Snow, taking out their Trash, Mowing Lawns with a Push Mower with NO MOTOR, Digging Garden Beds... You name it... At 14, the local Newspaper would hire you for Daily Home Delivery... I did that too, along with my Regular Customers, My Neighbors' work... I Dusted, Swept, Spread Saw Dust in the Aisles ( His Method for whatever reason ) at the Neighborhood Market everyday for a Candy Bar...I was Friends with his Son, but his Son would not do it I think the Neighbors felt sorry for Me, although I was Happy growing Up... I guess Neighbors see Signs a child doesn't see... I learned at a Young Age to have a Good Work Ethic... My Boy Scout Leader got me started in CB Radio... My Parents were NOT into CB Radio... I earned the Money to get on the Air, only to get constant Reminders as there was an Age Requirement of 18 and Older... I had had a couple of Radios and ended up with a Cobra 89 Base, before I traded it in towards the D201A... My Mom applied for my FCC License for my 18th Birthday... When I started using a Call Sign with Monster Tube Audio, I know it upset those who used to Order Me Off the Air, with threats of the FCC visiting my Home... I used to repeatedly ask those People for a Radio Check... Can you hear me NOW ? Good... 1 in Particular had a Browning... I used to Double Key Him and no one would hear Him talk... The Tech who Sold me the Tram told me I should stop doing that, as he got tired of the Guy showing up with the Radio thinking the Radio was not Transmitting,,, I was not so Rude and Obnoxious as they had been to me, for a Couple of Years... Back then, some took the Radio Law into their own Hands... One Channel Master Local had a Rope tied to His Coax and they Drove Away and Ripped his radio through the Window and kept going... One Morning the PDC 600 showed a BAD SWR... I changed out the Coax and found SOMEONE Pushed a Sewing Needle through the Coax , Shorting it out and snapped off the Needle, so it was near impossible to find... I then ran the Coax through some Rigid Conduit... I know they were upset that this Young Punk Kid owned a Tram D201A... I did have a Couple Doubters over the House to " See " the Radio... I would be sure to take the Framed License off the Wall and hand it to them... THIS D201A does not have a HINGED COVER... SO, No one got a " look " inside... Back then, there were too many Band Police... ALL 40 CHANNELS HOPPING... At times, One could BARELY jump in with," Break "... Going out of the Band on the VFO was GREAT...

Well this what I know the Browning Mk IVA came with silkscreen fronts and stick on fronts as well. In production they use the remaining parts some have brass badges on silkscreen and stick on. Well the Browning factory closed the head engineer which last name was Nicholas bought the remaining parts and built them after the plant closed these unit were Nicholas built Browing MkIV they have full silkscreen fronts with MkIVA silkscreened no brass badges. That's how you tell the difference just as collectable.

I'm reading and posting so bare with me. Gary on the West Coast was on EBay and sold complete BA boards, relays and really great reprints of Tram D201 and D201A owner manuals. Possible other Tram models as well. This is before EBay got crazy with Browning and Tram pricing. But he pasted away some years ago. Because I bought a D201 manual and a BA board from him good guy.

I am not an expert on Browning radios but I own several. Three of them were bought new, one being a Mark III, a Mark IV and a Nichols built Mark IVA. The Nichols built Mark IVA has the stick on Mark IVA badges and as I said I bought it new still have the receipt. Nichols Electronics Inc. School Street Tilton, NH 03276

Well I'm not a expert either that is just what I have heard and read on the internet. It mite have been he used whatever was left in inventory to complete the build till they ran out. But thank you because I've only seen one Nicholas Built Browning and that was on EBay. And that had full silk screen fronts no badges.

I guess I am blessed because I have the Banner & the speaker along with my MK IVA & MK III.The banner is on the wall above my CB Desk with a large Metal Golden Eagle hanging with it that came from the same CB shop after the owner passed away in November 2015.
