The crazy prices have jumped from E-Bay onto Craig's list. But I really think this guy has greatly overestimated the appeal and the rarity of those radios. President Washingtons are a dime a dozen (just like Cobra 142's). The Royce is a bit rarer, but there isn't a big demand for them either. And that Cobra 2000's box looks a little bit worn to be housing a NIB or "nearly so" radio. Interesting that he shows no real pictures of the radio itself. I'd give him $500 for all three....... IF they are truly all clean.

Really didn't know it has gotten that bad. I mean a Washington for over $500!! I have two of them, one being completely stock and another that has had channel mod done. Both are great SSB and AM radios but I would never think they are worth any where near $500! Geez maybe I should sell one.

Wonder if we know this local Malvern operator.... Hmmm. Heck 2 weeks ago, there was a similar Cobra 2000 in the box on the bay for $200 with no bidders. He'd be super lucky to get half of what he's asking. I draw the line on any single CB that costs more than a used "shack-in-the-box" 160-2 meter ham rig_________________________

There's a difference between asking a deluded price of $500 for a Washington, and actually GETTING it. I suspect this guy will be sitting on those radios for quite a while at those prices.

In other words it is completely untested OR it is known not working and he's a big fat liar. Seriously, even if he had documentation and proof of original ownership is ANY 30+ year old CB radio worth $650? Really? Not in my book, but there are plenty of folks out there with more money than brains.

Seriously, even if he had documentation and proof of original ownership is ANY 30+ year old CB radio worth $650? Really? Not in my book, but there are plenty of folks out there with more money than brains. Well, that's pretty much how I see it. The really funny part is that if you roll the clock back 20 years, you couldn't get $50 for most used CB's. Your best venues for finding them were hamfests and yard sales and most common radios went for <$40. There were some exceptions for the truly classic rigs like the Brownings and Trams, but the classic radio collection bug hadn't really hit yet. It's only been in the last 10 years or so that people started thinking that any old radio must be worth a small fortune. But like I've said before, people can ask anything they want. It's what they actually get for it that matters. Unfortunately there are a few people out there with more money than brains who feed this insanity. Once someone gets a crazy price for a generic radio, then everyone thinks they can. And price is set by demand so....... For the rest of us, who just want to build up a modest collection of those radios we remembered from our early years in radio, it just may have gotten a little tougher to find the radios at sane prices.

Ha! Google the phone number, maybe you'll know who it is. Doesn't seem to be familiar. He also doesn't seem to have a ham license either......
