This rig came way of a silent key (Ken) from Denver, PA. It's super clean and I was surprised to see it's actually a Teaberry Stalker XX Export version that was converted for US operation. Being an export (Euro) radio, it's got AM SSB and FM. There is a Euro 240 VAC plug with a US adapter on the power cord and the internal power supply XFRM has been modded for 120 VAC operation. The case is black and the front bezel is chrome and black. It's got the MB8719 PLL chip and has been modded for uppers and lowers on a three position switch via the factory "Tone" knob. I see a small aftermarket bread board with a crystal on it near the main board. Not sure if there is a separate FM board or if that's on the main board. Tone adjustment can be switched via the "HI-LOW" switch. AM sounds good with a 5 watt DK swinging 8-9 watts. FM works at 5-6 watts. SSB is reported to sound good but it only swings 1-2 watts like the previous owner has the SSB turned down. I'm trying to find the adjustment points but have yet to see anything on the Export version. It appears that it's a different main board than the US release version. Any direction there would be appreciated Kind of a cool local find that came with a Silver Eagle D104, factory hand mic and a black market Footwarmer amp.

This looks like an original Uniden-made Cobra 142 chassis. If not identical, it's very close. The FM board appears to be external, so this probably predates the Uniden "export" PB-010 board which included FM on the main chassis.

Okay, got it on the bench and was hearing slight "popping" on SSB or AM output audio at times. This appears to happen when the mic gain is too high on AM or the dead key is set below 3 watts. Also occurs when the mic gain is too low on SSB. I brought the mic gain way up on SSB and the it swings normally (0-20 watts) and the audio quality is good. Weird. The SSB AMC VR11 doesn't appear to do anything and the AM AMC VR10 is absent on this Euro board.
I was thinking AMC circuit or voltage regulator issues then further web investigation yielded information that a bad electrolytic cap, C176 (between pins 9 & 10 on the TA-7222AP audio amp) can cause low audio or flat-topping on the positive peaks. I'll replace it just to be sure. Dam 10 volt caps...
FYI, the main board is a PC-411-AD. Yes it's somewhat similar to the cobra 2K and the Madison boards.

I've had all sorts of trouble with them, and it's never the same one twice. The fact that the ALC is non-functional, and you don't have an AMC pot (Makes sense if it's the single conversion board, which didn't have one), and if your modulation is above 100%, it's likely been clipped (TR32 on the single conversion board).

Oh my, what a beaut! I had the non-export version of this radio for a bit years ago. Bought it for $65 at a yard sale and eBay'd it for $140.

Yeah, it was so clean, I gave the lady what she was asking. Hope to get it on Classic Radio Round Up tonight. Had my eye to the curb for a radio like this or maybe a Robyn 540D or a Superscope Aircommand CBB-1040. Okay I'm dreaming now
