Picked this one up from KOMX Cosmic Radio. Seems to receive ok, although the S-Meter readings are very low. There migh be a weak IF tube at fault. Some of the tubes are original Sonar. But the radio is in pretty nice shape otherwise, and I'll clean it up as I go....... Attachments:

Nice looking radio. My friend had one of those 30 years ago, if I remember right you could clip some wire and increase the power , it was a screamer on audio/modulation. The days when CHINESE was not heard of in the market. DOCTOR/795

But the radio is in pretty nice shape otherwise, and I'll clean it up as I go....... Update: Rewired up the mic jack to agree with my other 1/4" phone plug radios and took the transmitter out for a drive. At first glance it was only putting out just over 1/2 watts. A quick run through the alignment coils and the Pi network, got the power up to only about 1 watt. Just for grins and giggles, I pulled the 6BQ5 final tube out and replaced it. Power output then surged up to nearly 6 watts of dead key and a whopping 25 watts of peak power. This thing has a much more potent modulator than the Panasonic chassis radios do. It's obvious that someone "hot rodded" this radio sometime in the past. Now I'll have to undo that, as I don't want more than a 3 watt output.

Great to hear that it woke up from it's slumber. Sonar ship to shore AM radios are cool.

Here's a Sonar maritime radio with matching way-finders: www.angelfire.com/space/proto57/sister.htmlThese old AM maritime transceivers and direction rigs are neat looking paired up but you'd be lucky if the way-finder had 11 meters receive. Some of the maritime 2MHz transceivers had standard AM radio broadcast receivers as well.
