As far as I am aware, as I had mentioned, the MK III 776 had Brown Stripes on the Label... The MK IV / IVA 776 had a label with Orange Stripes... I do not believe they are interchangeable, without Modification...
I could have Sworn that 1 of the 2 Different 776 Mics I have, when I grabbed it to move it in the Storage Locker, I keyed it and I thought an LED Lit up... I did not have any tools to Open it up to remove the Battery, that I think is in it... I am pretty sure it was the Orange Stripe 776 that Lit Up...
I should take them Home to see what makes them Different... I know Fixer or Alan in another Group, took a Discussion out of the Group related to a 776 Mic... I think it had something to do with the Fellow trying to use the Wrong 776 on the Wrong Model... I think he had a MK III Brown Stripe 776 trying to use it for a MK IV... The Fellow had said the Mic was missing a Set of Contacts... The Fellow asked for Photos of the inside of a " 776 Mic " and I asked... Which One Alan took over, out of the Group... I missed out on exactly WHAT was going on... I did offer Photos, but got no response in the Group...

Both of my Different 776 Mics have Cords in Poor Condition, as the Outer Casing is Brittle and Cracked on BOTH... As far as I am aware, there did not seems to be a Supplier for the Brown Wiring, for either 776 Mic, I thought Fixer had told Me... Black is available, of course....
With the Astatic D104.... There are NUMEROUS Modification Articles, in Order to Use them with Modern Equipment... Many Audio Tailoring Mods for the D104... The Astatic D104 Seems to have the Most Information online., compared to Turner... Seems Astatic had more Fans or Users than Turner, given the amount of Information about them... Astatic made all kinds of Equipment for the Government too... Sonar for the Navy. etc... Turner I think was " Short-Lived ", as they returned to their Roots, making Embalming Equipment , getting out of the Mic Business they bought into and Jumped out of...
