Probably the same as it was last week..... Ol' Sparky was sounding great, nearly broadcast quality, and no echo

Thank you for the gate Night Ranger and the flowers Sandbagger. I had Night Ranger in there really loud a few times and then it would fade in and out. It was the good type of skip where we could converse though. The Yaesu FT-1000MP was set to HiFi mode a few times last night. I get great DX audio reports when in that mode, but interestingly a few of the locals say it sounds distorted and one operator went as far last night to say that I sounded like "sh!t". Hmmm, I'm not triggering the ALC much (if at all) or sound distorted in my monitor radio. I'm not clipping on the mod scope, nor am I throwing any off frequency spurs on the analyzer. The 1000MP will DK 10 watts carrier and swing to 40-50 watts PEP very cleanly with it's (2) 2sc2879 Toshiba PA section. I bet very close to class A operation. Maybe I'm overloading their IF sections with too much low frequency audio bandwidth

Personally, I prefer that fuller HiFi sound. Far more natural sounding. But it is true that unless the receiver is capable of passing that fuller HiFi, it may sound a little muddy.

The parts Kraco Super Deluxe radio I have been using for the S meter and extra ceramic filter was given to me about 30 years ago by "Krazy Ken". So..from now on the radio benefiting from the parts from Krazy Ken's Kraco will be called "The Krazy Kraco". As Krazy Ken was fond of saying....."That's Krazy spelled with a K". Night Ranger
