They are doing because they can. I've been a loyal Verizon Wireless customer since the HT brick phones came out from Bell Atlantic. I've enjoyed the care free unlimited data plans since I got my first smart phone. I am no means a data hog, but just knowing there would be no overage charges if I wanted to watch YouTube or listen to Spew Radio TM when out of town meant something to me. Now Verizon has put the screws to us with a $20/month increase that have grandfathered unlimited data on a month to month billing basis. So...in celebration of the Verizon $20/ month rate increase, I have cancelled my $30/ month Verizon Mobile Hot Spot feature that I would use only while camping or in the car so the kids could use their WiFi devices. There you have it; a net gain of $10 in my pocket per month. Hows that working out for ya Verizon?

Oh, while I'm at it I'm cancelling my $153.00 per month 25/25 Verizon Fios TV/Internet/house phone bundled account and starting up a new 50/50 internet only account with a new free gateway router for $60/ month on a two year contract or $85/ month no contract.
Ouch, another $93 more back in my pocket per month. They just lost $1236.00 per year. That will buy a lot of Netflix.
Again, how's that working out for ya Verizon??

With so many people streaming video to mobile devices, the days of the "unlimited" data plans are numbered. Get ready for tiered service plans with stiff additional charges for going over your allotted data limit.

I've had their unlimited text, phone and data plan since way back when. I haven't upgraded my phone since 2008 just because they wanted to take away that plan as they don't offer it any more. I too don't use much data, barely text and maybe just a few calls from my cell, but I liked the idea that I didn't have to worry about exceed some set number that Versizon had. I'm sure they've made enough money from me over the time I've had them as a provider.
If my bill does increase, I will change it. Count it it.
