We'll be kicking off CRR for the first time this year on Wednesday the 6th at 8:00 PM. So join us if you can, and let's keep those old classics alive for yet another year! Well, the first CRR of the year started off slowly with quiet airwaves and only a few stations checking in. But the stream of check-ins while slow, was fairly steady, and we had in excess of 25 check-in's by the time the night was over. One sad piece of news was learning of the passing of Henry, one of the Delaware County operators who participated in a concurrent CRR with us. RIP Henry... The mystery of the night was wondering where Pete was. I had not talked with him for 2 days, and then no show for CRR. Hopefully he's doing ok. Needless to say, but no Pete means no videogate for this week. Also absent this week were Night Train and Skeeter. A nice variety of classic rigs were heard, including a Cobra 139, SBE Console II, Robyn 240 "Yellow Bird", SBE Trinidad, Johnson White Face, and a few others which escape me at the moment. I was running a Cobra 2000.

For posterity, here's a partial list of last nights 2016 CRR check-ins in no particular order. I'm sure I missed a few since I was just jotting handles down on a scratch pad:
Sparky 775 (Cobra 139) Sandbagger (Cobra 2K) 44 Dave (USL Contact 23) Nitro 100 (Robyn 240D) Tickle Hawk-eye Whitetail Silver Bullet Captain Barry (Cecil Co MD, Uniden Grant) Guitar Man Dozer (Cobra 2K) Bill (Johnson Viking) Top Gun (SBE Cortez & Console II) Original Operator Ken Hiedy Road Runner Fast Johnny (DE County) Roach Rob (Mt Pocono?, Tram D201) Hippy-O

For me to be able to talk to you guys from my home ground we are going to need short skip waves and maybe there might be a chance. Hopefully a good turnout for tonight's Classic Radio Roundup! It's chilly in the shack which means I'll probably break out my space heater (Tram D201)........

In order to be zero-five approved, you need to be running more than 500 watts (but backswing).

Appreciate the gate. Another fine turnout with close to 20 check-ins! I ran a 23 channel Realistic Navaho TRC-30A... The basic base station that could. It's shiny and comes with the stock hand mic, 120 VAC power cord and original box

Then again I was given mine (actually 3 of them) in a box full of junk, and I took the best parts from all three to get one semi-decent looking one.

Anyone know what they are running radio wise on the Classic Radio Roundup tonight? Myself I'm thinking SBE Tridad! Well..... Pete made mention of running his Sonar, so I may do the same.... at least for the 1st half. Not sure what I'll switch to later. I'm thinking it's time to bring back theme-based CRR's Might be time for another walkie-talkie, 3-knob radio, or stock mic night soon. I'm always open to theme suggestions.

Theme CRR were cool I thought that was a great idea, stock microphone night was neat because you didn't know how some stock mic's sound pretty good! And most people never use the stock mic ever.

There were "stock" Tram (719) ElectroVoice, and (454X) Turner desk mics. Then there were the "stock" Browning 776 Turner and EV (729SR) "Banana" mics. I'd tend to cheat with one of those, so you'd have to exclude desk mics.

1/27/2016 CRR radio candidate. The Courier Gladiator. Most likely the largest solid state mobile radio I've seen. Pretty clean except for the nasty red channel switch that someone drilled a hole in the front panel for.....

2/3/2016 CRR radios of choice 1st hour belonged to the Sonar FS-23, the 2nd hour was the SBE Trinidad. Looks like next week, by popular demand, we'll be kicking off theme-based roundups with stock mic night. So dig up those old coffin mics, and plug them in.....

Two great radios I must say owned both sets don't have the Sonar but SBE I do. You guys sounded great on the gate, we had very low turnout in Delaware Country well it was just the two of us. So I logged into the Spew Network to listen in on your crew. Hopefully we will have a bigger turn out for CRR SSB edition tonight @8pm lol! And thanks Spitfire for the video gate as always and the shout down to us Delaware Country Boys.

I saw one on the interweb. Almost looks like a Turner but slightly different (Belcom) I like the way it looks. Let us know if it's got a big Turner type sound. www.eham.net/reviews/detail/3495

Plenty of audio output and makes a nice matching set with the radio.

Let us know if it's got a big Turner type sound. www.eham.net/reviews/detail/3495I have one, and I'm not all that impressed with it. I don't know if it's a matter of "it works as designed" and it falls a bit short, or whether I might have a bad mic element. Mine "works", but it needs near max gain to be equal to a similar Turner mic, and the tone quality is not as crisp as a Turner. It's very rig picky. Some radios will sound acceptable with it. While on other radios, it sounds muddy. I'd be glad to demo it on a future CRR, if you want to hear it.
