Made it through another one. Put up the shutters and waited. I'm 25-30 mile off the east coast. Expecting some bad winds of over 100. It got close to that. But we did ok. Lost some shingles and my fence was killed. Time to move back up north, had enough of this crap.

Last count, over 6 million people were out of power and it could take several weeks to get it back depending on where you are. Don't be too anxious to move up north, then you'll have to deal with snowstorms......

He's been talking about moving to Florida for a while now. In the past I pointed out the hazard of snakes and gators, then hurricanes as Irma approached. He said that was a small price to pay not to worry about snow, which I thought was absolutely nuts. I said "Sure, but snow doesn't craw out of the water and kill you when you're not looking".

Well, chalk it up to "the grass is always greener" situation. Until you've experience both places, it's tough to compare the two objectively. 25 years ago, I was chomping at the bit to move to Florida. I wanted a year 'round boating season, and an escape from the bitter cold and snow. I figured it gets nearly as hot and humid up here in the peak of summer, so it looked like a win-win. Well, it never happened (mostly because of an inability to sell my house), and now years later, I'm glad I never went. I still hate the cold and hate driving in the snow (actually I wouldn't even mind driving in the snow, if there were no others on the road), but now I also have a tough time dealing with heat and humidity (mostly humidity), as well as the cold. The bugs, termites, and other "critters" down south are also problematic. I also discovered that I like the forests full of trees and mountainous areas. When I retire, I will be moving somewhere. I just have to figure out where. There are way too many variables to consider, but I'd like to move a little further south (but not near the coast) and out of the snow belt. But time will tell. Then there is the opinion of "ol zero-five" who claimed that living in Miami was way better than anywhere in "communist Pennsylvania"......

Low taxes, lots of nice, small towns, close to the beach and/or bay if I feel the need, and still within a days driving to "the mountains". Yeah, still cold and snow, but markedly better winters than PA believe it or not.

All is well here after IRMA at the Fla/Ga line. All (9) antennas survived. No property damage other than lots of pine tree limbs & one Bradford Pear Tree laying over & roots ripped out of the ground. The Rohn 25 tower with (4) Yagi antennas also did just fine.GOD IS GOOD! SIX-SHOOTER

My mother-in-law at Stuart came through in unscathed. Oh well, better luck next time.

I’ve been up north for a year now and the snow has been a bit of a pain. But it beats Hurricanes, after Andrew whipped out some of my home in Miami. I finally said enough.

Been through both, but I'll take snow over hurricanes too.
