I had a back and forth with Sandbagger a while back about a fellow that goes by SuperHawk listing old radios at outrageously high prices on Ebay. Well now I have personal knowledge of one of the items Superhawk is currently selling and can say for certain that he is exaggerating the condition of this radio. He recently purchased a Tram D300 that I owned for the past 10 years that I listed on Ebay a few weeks ago. While the radio is in extremely good condition and did come with the original packaging, it was most certainly "used" at best.. However, Superhawk has re-listed the radio (at $1,200 by the way) and specified the condition as "New (other)" with a title of "TRAM D-300 AM/SSB IN BOX / VERY 1ST MADE #87 / X TRAM ENGINNER RIG / CB HISTORY. He goes on to state that the radio was never sold to the public and was a "PROMO radio". Even if he has some irrefutable knowledge that this particular unit, by virtue of the serial number, was never sold by tram through the normal sales channels, it did for sure make its way out to "the public" at least once via Ebay which is how I purchased it ten years ago. His description is at best misleading and at worst a complete fabrication.

I have to wonder how many poor saps he's duped with his fraudulent listings over the years. So many people are on to him, yet he still keeps on slugging away.

You mean Super Hawk actually scammed some unsuspecting radio operator on eBay??

buyer beware. its ashame how people mislead, (lie) to sell something at a overly inflated price. for someone who is gullable, because there mind doesent work that way. its easy to get ripped off. ive bought radios, and gear that was misrepresented, makes you feel like a heal!. then ive bought radios and gear that were understated. and feel great !. you just never know!.

He's well known for that little stunt. What none of us can figure out is how he has such great feedback.
If you really want to, you can contact ebay and notify them of the facts on that sale. It would be interesting to see what they do.

It would be interesting to see what they do. I'm betting they'd do nothing. He has ripped so many people off, most of whom have logged complaints with E-Bay. Yet his feedback remains good, and he keeps on playing the same games. The prevailing rumor is that he is related to/good friends with/has naked pictures of/ someone on the inside at E-Bay, who runs interference for him and allows his fraudulent operation to continue. That's probably the best explanation. I know if I did the stuff he's done and racked up as many complaints as he supposedly has, I'd have been kicked off a long time ago.

I'm reasonably sure that Ebay doesn't accept reports questioning the accuracy of the description and/or condition of a listing, which I can understand (they'd be inundated with this type of report otherwise).
However, nothing stopped me from creating a listing providing a test report summarizing the result of receiver and transmitter tests I performed on the unit just prior to selling it. Now any prospective buyers can see that this unit was in the hands of a member of "the public" for the past 10 years.

He ended up being the high bidder about a year ago on a D201 that I refurbished. He got it for $304.00 and a month later I noticed he had it back on Ebay for $895.00 saying as always it was part of his longtime personal collection. He eventually pulled it after a few weeks stating that it was pulled due to an error in the description. I'm sure he pulled it because he sold it to someone for less than he advertised it for.

So a couple of things: First, if it is to be believed, Hawk did actually sell that Tram d300 on 9/26 for $1,200 and then almost immediately sold a spare speaker for a Tram D300 for another $250! Is it possible that one person purchased both so that he could have a MONO stereo Tram D300 system for $1,450? Additionally, I found a link on the Worldwide DX forum where people have shared their experiences with this guy. A couple claimed he purchased stuff from them, then later filed a claim stating that what he received was not as described, received a refund and then sent back a different (worse) unit to the seller. I guess I should consider myself lucky that that didn't happen to me. At least my original sale did go through (apparently) although he did use a credit card with his paypal payment (of course) which cost me some money.

I was thinking that this guy had a very high BS meter, well know I know he does. Makes you want to spread the word on every forum you can post on. Reminds me of that ass Gerry that ripped me off. Said my radio came damaged. And wouldn’t send photo to prove his claim. Said he had already taken it apart to repair it when asked to return it. He did pay me $200 for a radio that was worth $350. And he made contact from the items for sale on this site. I think Grumpy banner / blocked him. He’s a real winner like this hawk guy.

Alright, so a quick scan of Hawk's recent feedback reveals that a single buyer has purchased the following items in the past week!:
item price date
nitro 300 amp $749 9/22/2017
cobra 2000 $1400 9/24/2017
tram d300 $1200 9/26/2017
tram d300 speaker $250 9/26/2017
palamar 350 $800 9/19/2017
browning mk4a $2500 9/19/2017
total $6899 over span of seven days
I'd say either Hawk has found the most gullible buyer on Ebay with the most money to burn ever, or there is some sort of scam going on here.

No way of knowing if those items were actually paid for.He could have a Fake account set up & not actually be paying for them so it looks as if he is actually selling his overpriced crap. Those prices are far above what is normal so I'm guessing they are Fake because eBay does NOT charge him any fees until he is paid so it would cost him ZERO & it's all for show. He has a Tram D201 listed with all those aging caps and power resistors. It doesn’t come close to the condition of my D201. Mine must be worth $100,000. And it doesn’t have a rusty transformer 😳
And my very famous uncle was a Tram dealer who hugged this radio everyday. Until that fateful day he hugged the 6L6 and got burned.

He very well may be having someone close to him, or himself on another eBay account buying his fraudulent radios. Because of not selling. The words out!. And people interested in this house usually browse the radio forums. Will have to see if some of those items show up for sale under a whole new named eBay account. Scammers. ( Crooks) always find a way.

( Crooks) always find a way. It's a clever, if underhanded, method of marketing. He advertises a radio at an outrageous price, "sells" it to someone (who is either a close friend or a shill account), which creates an inflated value for the radio when others look to see what something like that is worth based on past sales. Then when he relists it at a lower, but still inflated price, prospective buyers think they are getting a "bargain". It's part of the reason why people think their Realistic TRC-30a's and generic Midland mobiles are worth way more than the $10-$20 that I would give them.

Why in the wide wide world of radios would someone pay $2500 for a MK4a. I don’t think someone did, it’s more of this SH fabricating sales to make buyers think he sells extra special radios. I bet he sells used cars on the side. In fact I have seen a Buick Grand National on his site. Well if the eBay police have not stopped this BS. I can only hope a pissed buyer does buy breaking his fingers. Miss Karma is going to get you.

In the early days of EBAY I liked it. My wife was doing some hobby selling of nick nacks and all was well. Then it was sold, and it went into the crapper. We have been finished with EBAY since she had a sale of a $5.00 item that a seller complained about. He claimed he did not get what he had bought and demanded a refund. She sent him a copy of the add that he bid on and showed him that he did, but offered to give a refund if he would send the item back. He refused to send the item back and contacted EBAY. EBay contacted my wife telling her that her account was frozen because she had an unsettled dispute. She could only contact EBAY online(at least back at that time). She sent them all the messages of the back and forth with the buyer, and only got a robotic response of ( you have an unsettled dispute your account is frozen). So she refunded the mans money, account still frozen, same robotic response from EBAY. Then another $5.00 taken out of her paypal account by EBAY and sent to the buyer. She was unable to contact any living person at EBAY, and account still frozen. So this buyer from somewhere in NY, got a free item and made $10.00. Yes it was only ten bucks, but we were done with the BAY. 73 Whitey

UPDATE: The subject system (Tram D300 + speaker) has just resurfaced on Ebay under listing number 112658586039. Here is a short synopsis of the chronology: 9/1/2017: Tram D300 (sn ending in 87) + speaker sold by me to "hawk" for total of $470 (ebay listing 332357427138) 9/26/2017: Tram D300 (sn ending in 87) + speaker sold by "hawk" for total of $1,450 (ebay listings 263209388149 and 263231257448) to "o***o ( 330)" <- Ebay purposely scrambled buyer identity as shown in "hawk's" feedback. This listing included a bunch of made up history about the rig as previously documented. 11/27/2017: Tram D300 (sn ending in 87) + speaker for sale now by Comoal(330) on Ebay listing 112658586039 for buy it now price of $900.00 . It doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that Comoal(330) is "o***o(330)" shown in hawk's feedback not only as the purchaser of the subject tram D300+speaker, but also several other items in late September. Assuming that is the case, then two things immediately pop out as interesting to me:
1. While his buy it now price of $900.00 is still outrageously high, it is still $450.00 below what he supposedly paid hawk for this rig two months ago. 2. I now know the identity of the person that ostensibly paid hawk $6,899 for various items (see top of this post) in the span of seven days in September. If the purchase half of these transactions were on the up and up (meaning Comoal is an unwitting participant in "hawk's" BS listing practices), then I'd conclude that Comoal has really been taken to the cleaners; so much so that I don't have the heart to break the news to him.

On another superhawkwss6 note not related to the D300, superhawkwss6 is the current high bidder for a 23 channel Tram d201 being sold for parts at a whopping $1225! (ebay listing 222734211859).
I'd sure like to know what his plan is this time. Will he turn around and try to sell this radio for $2,500? From other posts on other forums, I've heard where he's previously bought stuff, then claimed it wasn't as advertised, received a refund and then sent back different equipment (i.e. same model number, but different serial number in worse condition). However, I don't see how he could do that this time since the listing in question clearly states that the radio has not been tested and that the buyer should assume that it is not working.

A little more insight on how eBay can change feed back at their will and how shill buyers can help change it also. This comes from their "How feedback works" section:
"Keep in mind that we calculate the Feedback score differently depending on whether the sales occurred in the same week. For Feedback purposes, we define a week as Monday through Sunday, Pacific Time.
If the sales occurred in different weeks:
Each rating can affect the Feedback score by 1 point. A positive rating raises a buyer or seller's Feedback score by 1 point. A negative rating lowers a seller's Feedback score by 1 point.
If the sales occurred in the same week:
Sellers: We raise or lower the seller's Feedback score by a total of 1 point, based on the total number of positives and negatives.
If the seller receives more negatives than positives from the same buyer in the same week, we lower the seller's Feedback score by 1 point.
If the seller receives more positives than negatives from the same buyer in the same week, we raise the seller's Feedback score by 1 point.
If a seller receives the same number of negatives and positives from the same buyer in the same week, we don't change the sellers' Feedback score."
So there are several ways to get feedback changed along with "feed back resolution" which takes mutual agreement between buyer & seller. This is something I'm trying to get done after a recent transaction when the buyer, having remorse, left me neutral feed back instead of positive feed back (along with a nasty comment). We'll see if it all gets removed or just amended.

I found this forum when I googled the eBay user ID, superhawkwss6, after having a seller experience with him as a buyer on eBay. Needless to say, my experience was the same as many posters here. He purchased a working CB unit from me, stated that it was "not as described and not working" and then sent it back to me through free returns. It came back with a bent and dented housing (like someone had attempted to pry it open or possibly exchanged the housing from another unit) and was no longer working. He currently has the same model of CB listed on eBay for sale (at an exorbitant price) so I'm sure that he harvested parts from my working CB to fix that unit. I decided to google him because the arrogance in his emails told me that he has a sense of being untouchable and he's probably right in feeling that way since he's been doing underhanded things and getting away with it on eBay since at least 2008. I, too, want to keep this thread alive in the hope that others will not fall prey to this con artist. I am a full time seller who has been selling for 23 years so I know the ins and outs of eBay's customer service protections and it isn't hard to spot a problem buyer. I did get my money back but it incenses me that he most likely got his back as well. I'm doing everything on my end to get eBay to look more closely at his account and cited the various blogs focusing on this user. I know others have done that before as well. I've read through everything here and on 2 other cites. It shouldn't take this much effort to get eBay to realize that this person is a problem for the platform. He honestly doesn't really sell that much (4-8 items a month) so I'm not sure why they continue to let him remain on the site. Hopefully this post helps someone else from getting taken advantage of by this guy.
