Hi all! I want to build a 4 element quad so I need plans for a GOOD one. I have searched the web for a good calculator but i just don't trust them besides I think i can get better info from an operator that has been down that road as opposed to a calculator or some store bought antenna. I want a high gain antenna but also need sturdy construction. I also need information on how to feed the beast, I like the balun method of feeding the antenna, also i would be willing to sacrifice some F/B and rejection for a little more forward gain. So what I need is wire lengths, diameter of wire, spacing, where to get a good balun etc. Any help is needed and wanted so chime in and lets do it!

I have built beam antennas using the ARRL Antenna handbook & they were very good antennas.I know many others who have as well & they make it very easy too figure out the measurements. They don't use figures for antennas that you can buy from any store. When I was just a teen age kid I built a 4 element yagi on a 20 ft boom.It had 4 elements vertical & 4 elements horizontal & looked much like a Moonraker 4 or a Shooting Star but the boom was several feet longer. It worked great & I made many contacts all over the world with it.

Great Shooter, I was looking at the ARRL book but didn't trust It much. But I will look again. Hey do you still have the specs of the 4 element Yagi? Only I would only need to go horizontal. The more I think about it because of the high maintenance of the quad i might just go yagi and i like the 20 foot boom your talking about. Anyway thanks for the chime you have me thinking now.

Go to Maco websight and click on assembly instructions for M104. It is on a 16 foot boom, and has all the info with measurements. I hope this helps. Or, for $250.00, you can order a hard copy of the instructions from Copper Electronics (or other places I am sure), and it will come with the antenna.
