Hey Grumpy, Merry CHRISTmas and a happy and prosporus new year. 4-5 years ago I used too hook up with a old guy went by 72 up in your area on 26.895 every time conditions allowd and havn't heard him in 3-4 years now, are you familuer with him. Just hopeing his absense isn't the final 10/7. really enjoy your forum. I hang on 24 in Pinellas Park, Fl but hit 28, 26.895 and 26.915 when skips in. Thank You, same to you!
Yes, I know Charlie (72).... nice guy! Today was the first time I have been on the radio in 2 years, so I have no idea if he is still on or not. But I did hear someone yelling for him on 26.895 this morning, so I am taking it that he is still around!

Assuming there's nothing else wrong with the radio, did you check the "manual/fixed" knob on the receiver? It should be in the MANUAL position for normal operation. (Details in Section 5 in the manual)..also your selectivity control should be set to "BROAD" for best reception. Check and clean your control pots for static and dirt...that can keep the controls/switches from making good contact.(Controls on older Brownings should be cleaned on a regular basis) You might also check and clean the inter-connect cable between the transmiter and receiver and your antenna connections. If you have done all that, then it's time to look at tubes, solder joints etc......They are a nice AM rig. Tube compliment is listed in the manual, and in some radios, they might be labeled on the chassis next to the corresponding tube socket..if you don't have a manual for the radio, you can get a copy here: www.cbtricks.com/radios/browning/r27_s23/graphics/browning_r27_s23_om.pdf

Since I was a teenager when I started with CB (67 now) I always dreamed of getting a Tram Titan. I bought one on eBay a couple of weeks ago. Got it cleaned up and a friend (51 years of dust) got it running. Getting my tower up next week and waiting for a new mike element for the Turner plus two desk mike. Then on the air.
Finding your forum made my day. It’s funny how I always knew when a guy I talked with on Cape Cod in my 20’s came on with his Tram. I knew some day I would get one. I already got some great information from your forum already. I am living in Williston, Florida and will be hopefully on the air in a week. Thanks for keeping my dream alive with your forum.

Flashbang Trams are pretty legendary radios. They have some of the smoothest and warm audio of just about any radio. Whether it be one of the Titan series or a D201, you really can't go wrong with a Tram. Although from my experience, the Titans weathered the years better than the D201's do. So you should be in good shape with that Titan. Welcome to the forum!

Golden Eagle Series 1. With a Golden Eagle special D104 mic. I bought it off E Bay and it all worked except for the original Banana mic. It has a bad element i could not find. 4 years down the road everything started going bad. So... I had it all refurbished. All works like new except for the Banana mic. Great vintage radio and mic. Oh! And of course i put the scream of the Eagle In it. ie Me Big Eagle I'll be 10-10, Clear.

Utica town and country 3. How do I post a picture? Find a site to host the photo and then the site will usually give you a link that allows a site to link to the photo. You use that link, adding it here when you click on the photo icon in the message editor.
