Doctor; I got my AP from a guy in NW Ohio. It is orginal and looks like new. Pretty decent old antenna IMHO. You cant beat the old stuff.. I had a AP copy a few years ago and were the two middle sections joined together it is very flimsy. This new stuff, the companys use very cheap thinwall aluminum, and thats why they usually don't last.

YEP in the middle and the ring on the bottom where it swings a bit in the wind, breaks easily, I talked to a lot of dx with it, US and South Central America, but now it needs much repair, to bad like many other things, high price and cost reduction in the parts.

Now, you can fix the area in the middle like i did when i had mine. Just cut off the flat end pieces and slit the ends. Find some aluminum tubing that will telescope inside the elements and join together with hose clamps. This will toughen up the antenna quite a bit. That's how i made mine to last. I just sold the antenna a few weeks ago to a guy that lives near me and he loves it. I just got done taking my original AP down today and i just put my Avanti sigma 5/8 wave back up. It is almost like night and day on RX. Dont get me wrong the AP is one great antenna, but i like my sigma 5/8. I have the antenna up 30' on a push up pole in the back yard.
