Next week promises at least a CPI-2000 and a Regency Imperial II and whatever else pops up (Hopefully an SBE Sidebander II). Please remember that CRR is from 8:00 - 10:00 PM EST Everyone pretty much drops off like rocks after that. See you next week! A reminder that tonight we'll be dusting off the tubes once again for Classic Radio Roundup. I'll be running my D201 this time and Spitfire will probably be running his Regency Imperial II. The rest will be a surprise.....

Yeah there is a delay, not sure how much. I could hear you yelling, but the local guys are talking so you know how that goes!

I was using a classic amp, but the radio was a Uniden Grant export. It is over23 years old. I used a stock mic. It has the best rec. of all of my radios. The ground wave conditions are poor right now.

That was just the Browning Mark IVA with no amp through the Gizmotchy 3 element. Not sure if I was pointed right on or not, but at least JR heard me!

Hey all! That was a great CRR last! I had a blast. Many old rigs to be had. Nice to hear you Crazy Bob. I could hear you well there for a bit. I don't think you could hear me though. Sorry I couldn't hear you Scott, but hey, at least JR did. No wonder with that BIG 7 element. I am using a PDL-2. Too bad there is an 8 second delay on Spew. But better than nothing. Looking forward to the next CRR. What to use....maybe a MK IV....too many rigs not enough time.

Pete I could hear you just a little bit, not sure if I was pointed right at you or not. I believe you are a little more north which is a bad spot for me to be pointed. I had the beam more NNE as I was also trying to pick Crazy Bob up off the side of the beam. I didn't know you were running a PDL II, heck we could have tried the flat side. Your about 67 miles from me as I am on the west side of Lancaster toward Millersville.
The next Radio Roundup you should hear me ;D Not sure which radio to use next week. You guys pick.... Browning Mark IVA, Tram D201, Gemtronics GTX 5000 or Cobra 2000. I also have a Kris 23+, but I need to do a little work on that one yet. Heck I just thought of it, I have a couple old Kraco SSB bases in the closet. Maybe I will have to get them out sometime and try them. The last time I ran them everyone around here said they sounded like a Cobra 2000. Not sure if I have a mic wired for them anymore so I will have to check.
Well I better get my legs up, I was up to late last night and now I am paying dearly for it. I enjoyed it last night as well, the most I have used my radio in over 6 months!

For those who dont know what im referring to,please see my thead here If this thing (C.R.R.) keeps growing in popularity, something like that will likely happen. Pete expressed an interesting in hosting it, which would free me up to just running the streaming audio (I was having issues resolving how to do both simultaneously). I was wondering what the limit would be on connections to the voiperized setup, and how it resolves the situation when multiple people try to transmit at the same time.

Hey all! That was a great CRR last! I had a blast. Many old rigs to be had. Yes, even more check-in's last night. a big hello goes out to Crazy Bob, who I was able to hear occasionally when the noise level I had dropped. If I can get the beam around to the west, I should also be able to hear Grumpy. Last night's list of rigs included 4 (yep 4!) Tram D201's, a Browning MK4, a Lafayette Comstat 35, a Realistic TRC431, Regency Imperial II, old Uniden Grant export and I'm sure I missed one in there. I think next week, I'll give one of my solid state rigs a chance. I'm leaning toward the SBE Console II, but I might hold back on that until Paul get's his Console II. I might fire up the Cobra 135 or Hy-Gain 623 instead.

Hey, this has been a lot of fun for me ;D Radio has been a bit stagnant for me for a while now. Playing in the CRR sandbox has renewed the "fun" of radio for me. I like ratchetjawing on SSB CB radio, and ham radio has lots of stuff to fool around with, but the CCR is cool because of so many things... -It gets a lot of people together with a common interest of playing with old radios (tubes & transistors)... -It lends itself to some good ol' CB radio fun, without the crap that goes along with it often (who cares if you cut my lips off of me 35 year old radio that keys 3.5 watts! ). It gets members of Grumpy's forum involved, even if you can't work us on the radio. Sandbagger got into the chat room last night, and I will try to do that in the future as well. It might just give us all a chance to get together and make some comments back and forth. Pretty cool, and what fun to see if my radio will make it through the night without blowing up

I was hoping to bring back some of that "old time" radio fun. Sort of like restoring old cars only a heck of a lot less expensive, and I don't smash my knuckles. So far the roundup is pretty much confined to a 50 mile (more or less) radius from our area of Pa.. But I'm hoping that if we generate enough interest, that when the sunspot cycle finally starts up again, we might extend the roundup into DX-land. That would give it an interesting element. It's also a good idea for forum members who are listening along on the audio stream, access the chatroom so they can pass comments back and forth.

Here it is friday morning and I am already looking forward to CRR wednsday! I'm hopeless. As an aside for those of you that can't make it all week, Paul and I have been using tube rigs saturday mornings on Six meters. I would like to also look more into this VOIP for CB. I have the hardware already set up, just need to find the software thats used. That would be a blast for the far-out guys (not to be confused with the guys that are far-out ). That will work when the skip isn't co-operating. I am also thinking of moving to use a trasistor rig next week. My near everyday user, Regency CR-142 or SBE Trinidad? Decisions decisions. Nothing special, but its a talker. Scott, yes we will have to try the flat side and see what happens. My set-up for antennas is still under "temporary" set-up. I need to plant my tower! Untill then my beam is hight challenged but it'll be somthing to look forward to! Scott, my vote is for your Gemtronics next week. ;D

I don't know if the "voiperizer" program has any provision to toggle an I/O port pin on the computer when someone hits the PTT in the program. Other than that, it should be fairly straightforward to set up.

Well if multiple people key up,then they are all heard over the air i think (Thats how LIVECBRADIO works i think) That sounds potentially chaotic. I would prefer a mechanism that would allow one station to transmit, while the others are given a "busy" signal until the first person unkeys. Shame I'm not much of a computer programmer..

I'm going to be in Rock Hill this weekend. If I hear the skip roll in from PA I'll call for Sandbagger on 21 and 13. I'll use to on-line radio feed to see if I make the trip.

So, the only thingie I needy to makie thisie happenee is softwareeee.

The VoIP program was not designed to do what we're proposing, and I believe the "livecb" site operator had to make a custom hardware interface to adapt to the software. I'm not sure if he uses some sort of VOX arrangement or what. I guess I'll have to install the program and mess with it.....

It won't be a problem. If it doesn't, it won't be a problem. I have made many software modes out there work. And some that are not supposed to do what I do, do. No not poop. If all else fails the radio is capable of VOX via soundcard output. That is how I can play ANY sound from my computer and transmitt it out through my radio. Can someone tell me the name of the software they are using? I'll download it and see what we gotta do.
