I've acquired a Publicom 1, 23 channel radio. Have a manual with it but can't find a schematic or any other thing about it. Anyone know who manufactured the radio? Looks like ICOM made a 22 channel radio which looked similar, and called an ICOM 22S. Appreciate any info. BR1936

But the fact that the Icom looked so much like a CB was a major negative when it first came out. Back in the late 70's when CB was at its peak, theft of CB radios from mobiles was a growing problem. Since the Icom Ham radio looked so much like a CB, the theives didn't know the difference, and many hams found their VHF rigs suddenly being taken. It was somewhat of a problem when someone would key the local 2 meter repeater calling "breaker 1-9", but many stolen 2 meter rigs were recovered by homing in on the "new CB'er" on the repeater.
