I have a Sonar FS-23 that seems to be way off frequency. Out put reads at 5-6 watts and modulates okay. I have a friend go to say channel 9 and I can hear him on channel 8 instead. Not all the channels do that but a few seem to.
Also some channels/frequencies he can't hear me at all. Any ideas? And a few channels he can but very weak although hes about 6 miles away.
Thanks much Bill

The best way would be to feed the radio into a dummy load and take a sample to a frequency counter, unless your freq counter is sensitive enough to read it from the air. Log the readouts from channel 1 to 23, that will exhibit the channels that are out of tolerance. I believe that radio is frequency synthesis, so if you're luck it may only be one or two crystals that are out of tolerance and that could affect 4 or 8 different channels depending on the crystal and how it is synthesized.
I always wanted a Sonar FS-23 or 40. I love tube radios.
Good luck,
Dennis
