I heard myself loud on the delayed streamer. I was trying out my new Siltronix VFO. Works good!

Crazy Bob, I can see that your slider is the Nomad digitized model. Does it also have the slider/buffer built into it? I instaled the Nomad buffer kit into my Mark III transmitter and also use the model 90 and have the have the blue LED freq counter but haven't installed it in the VFO yet. During CRR time last night the bands were silent here but I could hear very faint activity on the Roundup channel. I'll stick my neck out and say it was you guys. I had the burner warmed up but didn't try to jump in, the signals were not strong enough to make out conversations.

I believe that the VFO has a built in buffer, since Nomad says not to use on solid state rigs. Output would be too strong. It works pecfect on my Browning Mark III. It probably makes the radio worth more if I ever go to sell it.
No one came back to me on the CRR last night. I just had fun giving myself a long distance (about 90 miles) radio check.
I call this radio The Dashboard.

Someone decided to plant small battery powered jammers near both Pete's location and mine, so we spent some time hunting them down. I didn't want to go trampling through the woods in the pitch dark, so hopefully it'll still be there today after I get home from work, and I'll fetch it then. Pete found his this morning: Some people have too much time on their hands.......

Crazy Bob, if he said not to use the VFO on transistorized rigs then everything's built in, nice. Sandbagger, some sick person must be jealous to do that. Looks like you've gained a couple of hand helds?

I gained a real nice 40 ch GE walkie talkie. Not to mention a brand new motorcycle battery. It was about 2000 yards down the road from me. 100 feet off the road,in the woods. It was set on high power jamming me with a 10db over 9. It was 7 feet off the gound hanging on a tree limb. I do have a pretty good idea of the source. Now do I use it for target practice or do I redeploy?

No redeploy. That will give the other guy a chance to reclaimit and do it again. At this point, I would make him spend more money and try it again. Why give him his ammo back?

I'd save it for a future situation that may come up or sell it on ebay! A few years ago, we put an old car battery, broken Fire Stick, & an old beat up Johnson 123A mobile in a plastic mail tub, & had some fun with a guy called "Spaz".
I was on the CRR around 8:30. I heard you guys talking about a carrier, & going on a foxhunt.

It does make a nice backyard portable reciever.LOL Crazy Bob, I am sorry I missed you making the streamer on CRR. But as you know I was out foxhunting, and I bagged my fox. Also, man I LOVE the "dashboard" radio set up. Too cool.

We'd be more clever with where we'd put it.... Besides, the word on the street is that the suspect had purchased 4 walkie talkies. He's down by one now, but he'll probably strike again. This stuff is actually fun. I love DF'ing. I haven't done it in years...

Dave, Not to ruin the party, but you might have been bit by you own great website and the infamous bush boogie! It's funny, the locals are all referring to these jammers now as "Bush Boogies" which was a term my friend Art coined in the mid 80's. But these guys have done this stuff long before we put a name to it. I can't take credit (or blame) for inspiring what happened.

Did you track it with a fox hunting setup?

Did you track it with a fox hunting setup? No, not really, more like instinctive observations. I first pointed the beam to get a direction, then drove the mobile down the road and around the area looking for peak signals. I then unscrewed the antenna and narrowed it down to the closest point by road. The hunt would have continued with my hand-held realistic W/T with the S-Meter and exchangable antennas, except it was pitch dark and I didn't have a monster flashlight. I do have a DF loop but I haven't used it all that much and it seems to reflect off of the roof (and maybe other antennas) on my truck and I get false directions. I'd like to see how it works just holding it in my hand and using the portable . I may do some testing just to see how it works. Pete used his multi-band Ham HT which tunes down to 11 meters, which also has a signal meter. He just walked until signal peak and then looked around.

Ha! So the culprit with the "Bush Boogies" thought that his stuff wouldn't be found and that he would get it back. Seems like a lot of effort with the motor cycle battery and all. Dashboard is a good terminology for the Mark III setup. I can place my Siltronix 90 between the transmitter and receiver but with the matching amp you would probably have to make the control cable longer, they take a lot of shelf space as it is but it's worth it. Meatloaf? I've always liked his music and I've seen him in a couple of movies too.

I would venture to guess that losing one will quickly make the retreat. I do have to ask Spitfire if he wants to have have a QSO with this new GE walkie talkie, and my 1965 Sears 100mW walkie talkie!

Now there's an idea! WE could havea "Classic Walkie-Talkie Roundup. I could break out my Midland 13-700, 1 Watt, or the 13-428 100mW. Of course, we'd all have to be within a mile or two of each other......

After the holidays, I'm going to have a big ebay sale .. Even my 52 chevy rat rod! The Demco has the modulator/console also. It wouldn't fit on the shelf. I made this video of the 52 Chevy. ..We removed the mouse nest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1pjgCbHpc4
