So everyone likes this antenna? I bought a new place and may buy a commercial antenna instead of using my homemade dipole.
My only concern is how durable they would be in high winds as this new place is open and kinda windy (for whatever reason).

For durability you'd be hard pressed to beat the Interceptor 10-K. We have some pretty good winds here, but we also get at least 2 ice storms a year with winds. Any antenna that can survive those storms is top notch in my book. I've had this antenna up 7 years.

Does the Interceptor 10-K, Workman W58 and the Maco V58 and 5000 has about the same dbi gain?

In theory, they should all be about the same. However, the impedance matching circuit in the I-10K probably gives it an advantage over the other antennas.

So you are saying the I-10K will be a better performer of the 4 antennas?

What I'm saying is that the I-10K can be tuned exactly where you want it to be. Any of these antennas will work fine, but everyone who has an I-10K claims they work much better. I've yet to find someone with an I-10K that didn't like it, or thought it was a poor performer.
In the end it comes down to what you are willing to spend.

In the end they are all the same. I took my Workman down because it kept sliding inside itself. I have my old sigma 5/8 made by Avanti back up.

When you get it like you want it. Just put some self tapping screws in it. 238

If you do use self tapping screws, make sure they are stainless steel.

hello guys.been a while since ive been on here.i just seen this about the w-58 and i got a sirio2016 am thinking bout replacing it with the workman.mainly the sirio recieve is very senitive picks up every bit of electrical noise around you. swr were good, maybe too good this antenna is broad banded so wondering if im actually losing performance.anyway glad too see some users of the w-58 cause i thinking bout trying it ,if im not satified with it im not out alot.

The Maco/Workman/Jet Stream V58 ( I just bought a Maco according to the writing on the box, and it came with a "Workman Space Ranger" manual - go figure ) is a 19.5' radiator portion when tuned for 27.2MHz whereas a full 5/8 is 22' 4" and a .64 will be 23'.
I've seen an S-unit gain from the A99 to the V58, another S-unit gain from the V58 to the IMAX2K, another .5 S-unit from the IMAX2K to the Sigma5/8, I-10K, another .5 S-unit to the .64 Penetrator500 tested between 5 and 85 miles.
I'll soon be offering a simple mod kit to modify the Maco / Workman / Jet Stream V58 into a full .64 which I plan to market here & on ebay.
