So I have a question.... what do others think about using Skype during the Classic Radio Roundup on Wednesday Nights? We could do a conference call and check in, if someone is trying to reach another they can let them know ect....
Just a thought!

Interesting thought. When Pete had his remote control setup going with HY-tower in Canada, they used Skype for audio. I would assume that you could conference a bunch of people on the same call, and while only one person had access to the transmitter, it might allow some amount of semi-active participation, as well as a back channel to throw out comments. Now all that has to happen is for Pete to get his computer system straightened out again...

I never used it, so I don't know. Anyone here know anything about it? I'll try and take a look.

Lol Grumpy set up the chatroom here for that. We used to use it, but then people stopped checking in and I just stopped monitoring it. Besides, it got tough trying to hold down a conversation on the air, while simultaneously answering people on the keyboard. The deer tick reference is an inside joke. We're basically lampo0ning a local idiot and his crazy verbiage.

Lamthingying? Primative "bad word" filter... It doesn't know the difference between a standalone "bad" word, and a "bad" word that's part of a longer "not bad" word.......

I know, I've run into them before. I'm amazed at what they pick up.

What about the 26.915 Facepage? I can do that. I doubt my server would handle Skype, it slows down around here during peak.

My kenwood remote is back up and running. Should hear from Hytower this weeks CRR. If anyone wants to conference call on Skype my name is aa3repete, call in during the CRR and I'll see if we can make a conference call work. Any one will be able to listen in on the roundup, Hytower will be in control of the transmitter which should enable anyone to talk "on air' with his control and co-ordination.

Oh well, it was a bit disappointing. No one checked into the Skype conference, and I only had 2 connects to the audio server. It's a shame too, as we had 4 (count 'em) four Browning MK III's in there last night. I don't remember that many Brownings on the air at the same time back in the day......

Back in the 70's in my area, there was only one other operator that had a Browning besides me. Having 4 on at one time must have been nice!

I left my ping stock. I heard changing it would put a strain on some of the components.

I left my ping stock. I heard changing it would put a strain on some of the components. I guess that all depends on how much you increase the value of the "ping" cap. Most of the Brownings in my area are all basically stock too. But even two (or 4) stock, and otherwise identical Brownings will never have identical sounding pings, due to differences in mic type, placement on table, setting of the volume control, etc. That's one of the unique appeals of a Browning.
