More fun with video 'gates. This week the feature radio is one of my favorite classics. The Regency Imperial. reduced carrier AM, leaves plenty of headroom for loud and clear audio on both TX and RX. Double sideband on TX and SSB on RX. For over 40 years old this is one good radio on both AM and Sideband.
Thanks, 441 Spitfire

Great Gate Night Ranger! Wow was it ever a DX version of CRR last night. Locals had it ruff and tuff but 1/2 of North America was in our receive...from Florida to Wisconsin on 27.115.
I think we introduced a few new US operators to the show fo-sho.
Doc Hammer, Night Ranger, Fixer, Mr. Murphy, Tree Climber and his wife all checked in via DX during the show.
Anyone else out there hear us last night on that 'ol Cobra 139 base station? 775 in the Keystone.

Classic Radio Roundup on June 5, 2013 from South Carolina listening perspective.
It was pouring rain continuously last night. Since rain throws the tuning of the ladder line on my Lazy H off I decided to mostly listen. If I had used the tuner to tune the antenna in to resonance the received signal strengths would have been a few DB higher, but with it raining I just went direct.

Still shows up as "private". You probably have the permissions on the video on youtube set to "only you", or registered members only and not public. If I go to your YouTube page, those latest videos don't even show up, they are hidden from the public view.

It was interesting that we were in there the whole time. Some times weak and sometimes strong, but there the full hour. Interesting observations: I had the beam ESE, and not right at the Carolinas. But there is a definite difference in the radiation angle between my beam and the omni's that most of the rest of us run. In the beginning, when the noise was the heaviest, it appears that I was a little stronger in signal on average. But later on when the noise on Mike's end dropped a bit and you guys rose up in signal, I seemed to drop a bit. So the path was changing ever so slightly and went from favoring my beam to favoring the omnis. Which further emphasizes the point that there is no one size that fits all antenna.......

The labels just add to the "atmosphere". All kidding aside, that radio is a serious talker...sounds GREAT!

Thanks for all the nice comments on the Metrotek Mustang II. For such a simple radio, the thing is a talker with as sensitive a receiver as any radio with warm fidelity. I think that's why I like these Metroteks(I also have the Pacer), The elegant functional simplicity. Plus the daggone things are spectrally pure, absolutely no spurs anywhere on my spec. ayn.
