OK here's a silly question. We all know that running am afterburner increases signal wattage correct? Does it also improve your reception? My good buddy thunder is running a 200 Watt linear and he picks up my signal at crazy distances.

An RF amp only putts out the watts. If it has a pre-amp, that will help reception. A power amp does NOT help YOUR reception, only thiers.

OK then my nest question is...what is "normal" distance fer an out of the box cobra 29 LX? I've gotten reports of clear reception as far as 10-15 miles away.

Antenna is a K40 trucker. I've been extremely pleased with it's performance
