Found a couple of top notch radios at the Perkasie Ham fest last weekend. It sure was nice to see a lot of local operators there and meet some new ones also. Sweet "like new" boxed 2950DX. First contact driving home in the mobile was Western Texas from PA. I guess they don't call them DX for nothing ;D Dig the JC Penny 6247 SSB/DC radio based on the 02A board for $20. I set the dead key for 3 watts and it swings to 8-10 with great audio on AM. SSB swings to 16 watts. This Turner +2 had a wicked deep luster blue metal flake powder coat paint job. The photo doesn't give it justice. Haven't tried it out yet, but the element shows signs of ruff handling. Operator Ron said it would look awesome with a white marine coiled mic cord and I agree. If the element is bad, I'm going to swap in my good one, then get the sticker for the mic gain adjustment pot. I passed on a Drake TR-3 transceiver with matching VFO for $250 (a bit steep as it was missing the power supply). Passed on an untested Texas Star 667 non-variable amp for $75 (maybe a deal if it worked) Passed on a Connex 4800 at $175. Passed on an Icom 718 in the box with no additional filters for $450. That's right, stay in my wallet you hard earned dollars

That paint job looks nice. Shame they wasted time painting a rough working microphone. It's like putting a fresh paint job on a 1965 Mustang, while the engine still burns oil, and the transmission leaks. Hopefully you have enough "good" parts to make this into a really nice looking AND working mic.

Nice find, always fun to grab the older radios up, well built in their days and still fun to operate. DOCTOR

Oh, forgot to add that I got an almost complete set of Sams Photofacts from volume 1 up to volume 122 for $35. Just in case one of the locals is looking to borrow one, I'm missing: 48,50,53,54,58,59,60,61,62,64,66,67,69,76,78,79,80,81,83,85,87,92,94,95,96,98,101,102,109,110,111 and beyond 123. These apparently came from a retired radio repair shop called AED Communications out of Willow Grove PA. I'm waiting to hear from the sellers about a stock of crystals I told them I'd be interested in. We shall see. Skeeter picked up a Train Approved (R) Executive brand tube radio with matching separate meter/ speaker from the same seller. I'm not sure which one, but we just might hear it soon

Cool rig with chain drive even! I wouldn't have known what a "Trans-Citer" was and probably walked right past it. Next ham fest, I'm walking with you.
