CRR just happened to fall on Christmas eve this year and I thought I was going to be out of town late, but to my surprise I was able to get on the radio around 8:20 PM. Heard no one at the time so I just started ghost talking. Since I was late, I had the Yaesu plugged in HiFi mode. Then Chuck came in on his HiFi FT-102. A few minutes later skip BLASTED in and we heard from Six Pack out of S. Chicago and Mr. Murphy was in there for quite awhile. They both said to say Hi and wished everyone a happy new year. A few more HiFi stations came in from Indiana and Georgia. After awhile "classic" guilt set in, and I switched on the Mark III. Around 9 pm Skeeter made it on air with his browning Mark III also. Skip was so heavy and clear we just talked to folks from all over the Midwest and Southland. Even though only a few local operators made it on, we had no-problem making conversation and advertising CRR (complete with last minute Christmas gift ideas from Fred's Voodoo Emporium) haha. Happy New year folks! Sparky out.

Reminds me of my youth. But night is for local ragchew, and hate it when I want to talk to a friend 10 miles away, and cannot hear him because Alabama is coming in S9.

Or worse yet, south of the equator, with 6 tone roger beeps and everything in Spanish...... E-skip can be a lot of fun in the evening, especially during the roundup. It gives some of our loyal forum and CRR friends across the eastern half of the country to check-in and say "Hi!". We have about a dozen or so guys scattered all over, from Illinois to Florida, and parts in between, who we look for when the conditions are right. I wouldn't want it to be an every day thing, but it's a cool treat once in a while. Haven't heard Fixr in a while though. I hope things are ok with him.......
