It is so Easy that even I passed it. Heck I even passed the General Written & 5 WPM CW & ACED both of them & missed Three on the Tech Test. I met an 11 year old Extra Class Young Man this past Saturday in Jacksonville,Fla. & he was trying to get me to take the Extra Test & I told him I have less than Zero interest in being an Extra.I don't hve time to use all of the General Class frequencies much less that little bit of Extra space you get with the upgrade.

Ahhhhh you'll knock it out of the park! Any inclination to go on to General afterwards? Get way down in the HF? ?

The Tech license is good if you like VHF/UHF and that little slice of 10 meters that they give you. For any real HF fun, you'll have to go for at least the General. It's not all that tough, now that the 13 WPM code test is no longer administered. That was always the tough part for me and I'm glad it's gone.

Definitely will keep going, first things first. Im fairly confident for the tech but i will have to really study for general. Im not a good study. Things i like stick, things i dont care about or have interest in blow away like leaves in fall. But it doesn't work that way. 321

Congratulations! I'm glad they dropped the code requirement. I remember oh so many moons ago when I had to go to the FCC field office for testing, I learned enough to get my general (13 wpm, I believe) and then never used code again, ever. I saw the point of learning it, since this was before digital communications, but I never used it.

I saw the point of learning it, since this was before digital communications, but I never used it. I passed my Novice exam in the fall of 1981, I passed the code portion by writing down the dits and dahs as they were sent and then went back and translated later. I can't process information in my head quickly, so I knew that I'd never see anything higher than the technician class license (which I passed at an FCC field office in 1982). I never liked code in the first place. It made no sense to me to loaf along at 5 (or even 20) WPM to have a QSO, when you can speak at ~275 WPM. Thankfully, they dropped the code in 2003, and I immediately upgraded to Extra. Never thought I'd get there, but I guess good things really do happen to those who wait......

My parents had us kids learn to play musical instruments when we were young, so I was told because of that I was able to pick up code fairly easy because I was used to beats & rhythm. Not sure if its true, but I didn't struggle too much with it. Still hated it, though.

Which makes sense in my case as I was not very adept at music either.

321,
I have had some personal things pull me away for a while but this is great! I'm glad that you beat that down!
This is great news!
