The guy that wanted me to fix his 148 said "not worth it". So that project is scrapped. Now i can get back to my own repairs, upgrades and restorations....not sure where to start. I guess its the palomar 300 skipper. Oh, by the way, picked up a 350 exforce 2 pill. Did a power cord upgrade and light clean up and thats working great. Anyway i got all the recommended r+r parts for the skipper and down loaded all schematics and instruction materials. Got my hands on an old mobile johnson radio and started cleaning that up. It has the original mic, which is pretty cool. Opened it up and found it fairly clean with a cluster of crystals around the chnnl selector.its a messenger 123sj.should be fun. So the skipper worked fine at first.great reports at over 600w. Told that audio was fantastic with plenty of swing but it became intermittent and erratic. While looking for info i found it's companion radio! Man,i want one! Its the skipper 71.love it! If anyone has one for sale im buyin! Speaking of buying, hahaha i also found another tx800! Trying to buy that now....im workin on it.i am crazy about the one i own now and cant believe its abilities! Been looking for awhile so i hope this is it. Well, that's what's happening. diggin in to the skip'r tonight. 321

I believe local operator Knight Train had one of those Skipper radios. Not sure if he has it still.
