I Had pick this radio up 2 weeks ago. No Mic. No mounting Bracket and no Power Cord, After Cleaning up the Controls, Wiring up My Trusty Turner JM+2/U Mic, Fresh Battery, Correct Size Fuse, Found Thumbs Screw's and a correct size mounting bracket in my parts drawer. This Radio is From 1977 with the Original 2SC1969 Final. Original Crystals, and let me tell you that I talked on it yesterday for 3.5 Hours straight, This 42 years old radio is Very Stabile. I didn't have to make any Adjustment to the Califier. I just might in the Future and take out the Channel mod but leave the Califier unlocked, So this Radio is second to my Motorola System 555 Radio. just my 2 cents...

Those old Cybernet SSB chassis were very stable, and fairly reliable. Many don't like them because they aren't the loudest talkers. But they do work well.

I've been running a Midland 79-892 as my mobile radio for several years. Great mobile. The only mod on mine is I unlocked the clarifier. All you have to do is snip one diode and move one leg of a resistor to a different spot. Great little sideband radio even with the stock mic. I tried a Uniden Bearcat 980SSB in the mobile for awhile, but I went back to the Midland 79-892 because the receiver on the Midland 79-892 was quieter than the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB. I did like the severe weather alert on the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB. That was nice, and the Uniden's channel scan ability was nice. Night Ranger

They are good radios, but just a bit odd the way the clarifiers are set up with the stock mic. I have 5-6 of them, but only 3 of them work well. I have not yet really messed with the others. Not too sure what exactly is wrong with them. How are you all making out with yours? They still working?
Just got another in today that was supposed to have been converted to 10m, but that ended up not being the case at all. I did get it straightened out though, as someone was in there fiddling with it and it would put out next to nothing for power. All seems well now. Will run it tomorrow after checking the audio.
