Don’t know if anyone is familiar with Eagle Clubs? It is like a Moose or Elks and back in they day they had base CB radios in the lodge that were manned 24/7 during times of bad weather or emergencies. I cam across a radio, antenna (part of it) desk D104 mike, call sign plaque, members roster list, pics of the radio being used and awards the club was given. The club was in NC I can’t recall the town but I have the info somewhere. These clubs still exist but in small numbers but they no longer have cb clubs. Ok the radio was a Lafayette Telsat 1140. I want to get the radio working and I can use a bit of knowledge. It wasn’t working at all and after I replaced a diode and recapped it, it know turns on and receives but the receive is extremely low. When I key the mike I get the red TX light and I see my signal on the radios meter with audio but I get 0 out of the antenna. I know it’s hard to diagnose a radio online but any suggestions were to look would be appreciated. I have most equipment needed to check stuff but I am still in the learning phase.

You are correct when you stated that troubleshooting on-line is more of a hit or miss thing than analytical. It's tough to go through the steps when the radio is not in front of me. That being said, if you have nearly no receive and no appreciable transmit, that indicates a common problem. You may have cold solder joints on the antenna connector, or the circuitry leading up to it. There may be a shorted disc cap in the output matching circuit (I had this once on a Cybernet chassis). Or you might have a weak oscillator stage. Hard to say. As I said, stabbing in the dark........
