My synthesizer board is giving me no output on crystal...vfo works but channel selector wont change the range anymore.Any transistors known to fail on them boards...think maybe 4 mhz side flaky...just askin if anyone has troubleshooted one Tx

Is the main channel selector box inside the radio Grey or Black? I'm betting on Black & if so they have a known history of failures.The late model had the Grey selector box which I have never known to fail.

I have seen them rebuilt but most all of them failed again.The contacts just get so worn they don't last.It was a very poor design that showed it's flaws pretty quickly in many of the radios & it's a shame.It made me sell my MK IVA & the Black selector was still working because it was not used & I did not want to be using the VFO side.I don't like mods on any CB Radio.I wanted to have 40 channels on the channel selector only.

If you have a frequency counter you can see if you have a 4mhz signal at J100A and 20 mhz at J100B. This should give you an idea if the lack of the 4 or 16 mhz is the problem.
