It would be nice to be able to tap in and listen to the radio somewhere else in the country. I never took advantage of it when it was up and running.

It was something that many of the locals used back when it was up. The fact that there was a couple of second delay in the audio meant that you could do your own on-air checks and then listen to yourself. At the height of its popularity, I had IP's from many areas, local, other states, and even some foreign countries. But like so many other things in this hobby, its popularity faded, and when the computer that it was running on went belly-up, I never got around to fixing it. And to make matters worse, the radio that was acting as the receiver for it was sold at last fall's hamfest. I was thinking about bringing it back using a SDR dongle. But that's a project I just don't have the time to explore.

Despite Sandbagger’s polite “not gonna happen” reply there are a few radio feeds available on the internet every week. The best IMO is at www.oldtuberadio.net or YouTube @ Boz oControl. Every Saturday night at 8:00 Pacific. Based in Fresno, Ca with on-air checkins of tube radios and interactive chat via the website or YouTube comments from remote “SWLs.” Occasionally an Echolink is open for remote checkin by amateurs. All sessions are recorded and archived on the site for playback anytime. There is also an up and coming feed on YouTube from Dirty Diaper 21.

There is a difference between Dennis' well produced weekly OTR, Dirty Diaper's Old Radio Night, our Classic Radio Roundup video gate recordings and the real time streaming audio server. The former offers someone the opportunity to sample a pre-determined slice of time from different geographical areas. While the latter was a slice of any given time. Might be nothing going on, or it could be bedlam. You never know. Of course now, our channel (13) is pretty much dead except for Wednesdays and Sunday nights, with little bits and pieces at other times. There were a couple of real time sites out there that offered the operator a chance to listen, and in some cases, fully operate the remote radio. I don't know if the ones I played around with 10 years ago are still around, or if there are others. A Google search would probably answer that.

I forgot to mention World Radio 559’s Friday night check-in on channel 17 AM in the Bay Area. On YouTube live and archived. It’s a bit of a free for all with stations fighting for bragging rights.
