I was given a d201 that had the vfo modified to tx. There is small carrier on ch 6 in crystal mode. Is this a side effect of the vfo mod or this botched job? Any insight would be great because it's driving me nuts.

Just a "Birdy" on channel 6, needs to be aligned correctly. I've had tons of them that seem to have "Birdys" on channel 6, just has to be dealt with. In most cases it can be eliminated, or hushed-up to a minimum Good Luck, it can be VERY trying..... Mattbee

It could not be in a better place for sure.I have tried having Channels 6 & 9 completely disabled in all of my radios but it appears unless it's a crystal it's pretty much not happening but I have not given up looking for a solution just yet.I would much prefer a carrier that pegs the meter on both of those channels any carrier is better than none I guess. Thanks for the reply gentlemen. It seems to originate from the synthesizer board because when I unplug the cable the birdie goes away. I'll keep looking.
