Picked up a Titan 4 today with a light coat of nicotine on the face plate. What is a good way of removing it without destroying any of the lettering?

I'd say denatured alcohol or 91% isopropyl would be about the most paint-friendly solvents available. Generic window cleaner ammonia/water is effective, but some claim that it can be hard on paint. Will be hard on anodized aluminum surfaces like knobs.
No perfect solutions. And not every front panel is printed with the same kind of paint.

Beware of 90some% alcohol as it can discolor some plastics. I water down 90% or use 70%.
