My Tram D201 keeps popping C628.
I purchased the radio a few years ago and decided to replace all electrolytic and film capacitors along with high power capability resistors. In short if I could fit a higher power rated resistor or a higher voltage rated capacitor, it was done. I really took my time doing this.
All of the tubes are New Old Stock and I still have the old ones. The previous owner did a power mod with a switch to drop the resistance of R642/R643 and I restored it back to the 2.7k +1.5k = 4.2k as shown on the schematic.
With C628 out of the circuit I measure 90VDC and 0.35VAC at that junction.
Before the cap popped I had removed the neutralizing link and the bias voltages were spot on, -24VDC AM and -32VDC on sideband.
Any thoughts? It has happened twice and it is the correct 4uF/250VDC part.
Thank you.

Here is what I figured out. I noted the polarity of the VOM and guess what? The cap was installed backwards. I installed a new one, matching the polarity. No pops.
The oddball thing is that the schematic shows the Yellow wire going to the + and the White wire going to the -
Mine is reversed.
Now on to the alignment. It actually "hears" very well on AM already. 0.5uV with no adjustments.
