YES, your radio arrived safely, but stinks so bad from cigarette smoke, it's sitting in my garage hoping it will eventually be tolerable to get on the work bench There are four (4) radio restores in front of yours! Mattbee

I have found that spraying 99% isopropyl alcohol onto the interior will remove a lot of that stuff. Have to dab at it with a small acid brush where it's really thick. At least isopropyl won't attack any plastic materials inside the radio. If I'm in a hurry for the radio to dry out I'll use compressed air and a blow gun. Some types of tube socket will soak up the airborne tar and concentrate it under the spring contacts. Found that soaking the socket, then blowing it out with the blowgun would reveal tiny brown specks in the ejected solvent. Lather, rinse, repeat until it comes back out of the socket clear of those. The Tram tube sockets aren't built this way and don't seem to have that bad habit. But the chassis-mounted sockets found in Browning Mark 3 radios can hide quite a reservoir of brown schmoo inside them.
We get it in pump-spray bottles from amazon.
Just make sure the area below where you're flushing the radio is okay to dribble schmoo onto. And do it outside. Using flammable solvents indoors can be bad juju.
Using it in a non-smoking house will be more pleasant if as much of the smelly tar is removed as possible. A tube-type radio generates enough heat to make the remaining tar smell rather strong once it warms up.
