Howdy ! I have a Regency Imperial II that receives & transmits on all channels except 1234 & 21 22 23. Replaced all the crystals that mix these channels but no change. Still the same. Could the 6AN8A tube possibly be the problem. I will appreciate any advice.

So ch. 1-4 + 21-23 neither transmit or receive in any or all modes?
If you put a freq. counter on it is some sort of frequency being put out, or nothing?

The channels that are dead correspond to two of the six higher-frequency crystals. Don't have a diagram at home to refer to, but the fastest way to find out if the problem is the crystal, or the socket it's plugged into is to swap with the channel 17-20 crystal. That crystal runs okay in the correct socket. If it runs okay in the wrong socket, you have found a bad crystal. And if that working crystal won't operate in the 1,2,3,4 socket this points to a problem between the socket and the tube that section of the channel selector feeds into.

Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it! After reaching a frustration hiatus, I for the heck of it cleaned the channel selector switch contacts and bingo, all channels now working in receive & transmit. The crystals in this bad boy are soldered in and packed like sardines! At least I have some spare crystals now Thanks again for all the advice ! Dave

Way cool! Wouldn't be the first time a 23-channel radio was put off the air by schmoo on the channel selector.
Glad it worked out.
