I bought this Tram Titan II with the original box/packaging , Mic, owners manual, and promotion poster. The radio and Mic physically perfect. Radio was purchased new December 1968. Looks like it was never used. Click photos for larger images Works great, but I will send it to Greg Barkett to check out and re-cap.

You are certainly fortunate. My Titan II looks almost mint, and I also have the original black Tram mike, which is in near-mint condition. But to get one new-in-box...well, what can I say !!! How can that be beat ? You're one lucky fellow.
Take good care of it. It deserves the best !!

I think that the Tram Titan & Titan II are the best looking radios ever made. They are among the best performing too! 15 tubes, & a Collins filter.
The first time I saw one, back in the early '70s, my jaw dropped to the floor, & my heart skipped a beat! Serious!

I don't have the first Titan in the series, but I do have a Titan II and a IIA, both of which are in near-mint condition, and each has the original mike. I treasure both of them very much. I'd have to be homeless and sleeping in an alley before I'd sell either of them.

I run a Tram Titan as my main base radio and a Tram XL-100 as my mobile radio, they both look almost perfect and they both work perfectly. How many of you own a XL-100 just curious since mine is the only other one i have ever come across in my 34 years of cbing. I have the origional mic for both radios but i run G-Stand D-104's on both because they sound the best. Noticed the modified G-Stand in the mobile that I created.

I don't own an XL-100 but I've seen quite a few on eBay over the years.
Most every Tram will sell well on eBay, especially the tube models, and more so when they're in good shape. Right after Thanksgiving is the best time to sell.
The Titan III and IV do well for solid-state radios, but the IIA seems to consistently sell for the highest price. From what I've heard, the IIA is the best one of all the Titans. But I guess it depends on who you ask.

I recently owned 2 titan IIa's one ofthem was the loudest of all my trams but I still prefer this titan. Maybe i'm partial to the old boat anchor style radios.

Yeah, I agree there. I like that look the first Titan and the Titan II have. Those front rack-mount style handles along the edges of the face, the metal cover with the black wrinkle paint, and the brushed aluminum faceplate. They have an appeal that I really love. They're so rugged looking yet attractive, and I've never seen another radio that even comes close. Truly one-of-a-kind.

My Titan has a receive overload problem from nearby stong stations. Is there an agc adjustment or tube that can fix this? I'm not a tech, I just tinker with my own boatanchors. Thanks.

I'm not a tech either, but I've heard others complain about the same problem with their Titan. Perhaps it's inherent to the design of the receiver. You might have a better chance of getting an answer to your question if you start a new thread.

I also have this same receive overload issue as you talk about. I have a person on the next block that comes through almost as if they were on the same channel, even if i turn my volume down all the way I still hear them through my speaker. I'm quite sure this is just the way these radios are because my titan II and my 2 titan IIa's I had did the same thing. they have to be real close for this to happen other wise the receive is great. In fact if you read back into the posts from last winter you will see me asking the same question.

I finally solved the overload problem by changing the 6EQ7 tube. According to Sam's, it controls the AGC.

WOW!!! That is an amazing find! I also was admiring the mobile Tram XL set up! Very very Cool! (but it sure looks out of place in a modern auto) I like that D104 mobile mic set up, but was wondering what element you use in it? The heat kills those old ones every time.

I like that D-104 conversion. But as for the element, is it still the stock crystal one or have you replaced it with a ceramic? Not only heat will kill the crystal one but it will probably pick up a lot of road and vehicle noise. That looks like the mics that are seen in the police cars in old movies, very nice.

You can't do any better then that. I have been looking off and on for 3 or 4 years for a Titan even half has nice. All I ever see on ebay are dogs. Or they sell for far more than I will pay for a unseen radio. Nice find, good luck with it. Yes I remember a guy in my home town who had a Titan II. Very loud and clean radio. 73 Gator..
