Ok, this guy on Ebay has another "MINT" Tram that he is selling. This one is also his personal radio ( kinda like the last one he sold) He claims it was just gone through and works like new, although he will not tell me what "gone through" really means or what if anything was done. He is willing to provide free shipping...his price is $750.00 .......I am simply at a loss for words. But is does come with the box!
BUYER BEWARE on this one...

There are alot of nice radios you can buy for $750. I can see a mint Tram for $300-400. But that is it.

Look closer! He claims in his listing it's NEW IN BOX. But it was gone through five years ago. And then goes on to say it's a nice radio. If it were new in the box you would think he would harp on how perfect it is. But just goes on to say it was gone through and is a nice radio. It almost sounds like he is retracting the NIB claim. And ask yourself where are the big nice pics of this NIB radio? I would list a radio like that with super size pics showing it off! Makes me wonder already if it is really new. And if by chance it is, It will still require a very expensive 100,000 mile tune up. Take note: this is the same guy that recently bought a mint Tram D201A on ebay. And listed his personal Tram radio soon after. I think the Tram he won had the good channel selector and this one I think has the bad one. Not 100% on this. But this guy refuses to give direct answers about what he is selling. Bidder beware!

I was not able to find the MINT tram on ebay. But it sounds like the guy with the $5,000 Brownings. From what I have read here it may be that same person. He has a very high opinion of his equipments worth.

Yup! that's the guy....kinda sad whenever he sells a Tram, it's "is radio" and it's always "just gone through" again he refused to tell me what exactly that meant...

Well, if he has a high opinion of his equipment. He has a bad habit of not sharing that opinion with his potential bidders.

Whetever else you may know about this guy, there is one really, really large problem just from his listing.
The radio can't me "Mint" and also be "Gone Through".
Sure, catching up the last 30-plus years of maintenance is a good thing.
But if you do that, it's not "Mint" any more.
And if it's really "Mint", that is to say UNUSED AND UNDISTURBED, you haven't "gone through" the thing and done that critically-important 30 years' worth of maintenance.
Either it's been maintained and brought up to date.
OR it's "Mint", meaning the next owner will have to dig down deep and do all that stuff.
It can't be both.

Yes, 2600 His understanding of the word MINT, and ours is not the same. It seems he is not a member of Grumpy's forum. Or he would have picked up on that little bit of info. Well, maybe not. You can lead a horse to water. But you can't make him drink.
Have a great day.

I think this is the same guy from Golden CO?? If so, a friend of mine bought a "NEW" Mark IVA from him a few years ago, and when he got it, the receive was down, and about $250.00 worth of work had to be done to the radio to get it working. Whenever he sees this guy put up things like this NIB Tram, he emails him about what a rip off he is then the guy takes it down for a while..... he is truly a scammer. I too would like to see the NIB Brownings, and TRams that he has but he wont ever take them out?

If the radio is "Mint" cosmetically, that typically means that it's as it was when brand new, with no smudges, scratches, cigarette stains etc. But electrically, I agree with 2600. It can't be "mint", "NIB" or "original" and "restored" or "gone through" at the same time. The terms are mutually exclusive.

When I bought a "almost mint" tram 201A about 10 yrs ago on Ebay, I honestly got a wonderful radio. It has started to show some age, but after that many years I expect it. But I think I paid $300 for it in the org. box w/manuals...not a bad deal if you ask me. But $700+ for the used, somewhat "gone through" used and very questionable item is alittle much...but I fear someone will pay that thinking they really got something. I have learned SO MUCH from all you guys, you have made me a much better Ebay shopper and taught me how to do minor work on my toys Bob

I would say it still could be mint and had a 100,000 mile tune up. But it would not be NEW IN BOX! It can't be both.
That's what I was getting at in my previous post. I think what he calls gone through is to make a potential bidder actually think this radio was checked out by a qualified tech. There were better pics posted some time ago of this radio. One could see all the original power resistors and caps were still there. Gone through I would say means, "Turned on no smoke" But no real needed restoration. Hey 2600 hope we prevented somenone from getting ripped.

Gone through no smoke....that is too funny..But I really think that is exactly what they mean

Or do they mean: "All the smoke is still in there. Didn't let any of it out when we plugged it in and turned it on."
Putting the smoke back in is what's expensive. Let too much of the smoke out and it won't run until you put enough of it back.

Hey, I got a "MINT" Eagle banna mike that should work perfectly with it. (regardles of the brand) and since it's mint...it's definately "modulation compatible".
Seriously. I connected it to the radio and it actually worked, with the wonderful aroma of "mint" potpourri. (did I spell that correctly?) I can pronounce words more than four letters long, but spelling is another matter.

I've discovered that just the base for a Browning bananna mic is kind of rare. I've seen them go for as much as $36.00, so your "Mint" complete mic might bring a couple of dollars (as long as the smoke is still in it). This smoke thing is hilarious.
