I was browsing eBay this morning, looking at the Trams and the Brownings. Came across this D201 with a mod to eliminate the BA board. Never seen it before. Has anyone else? I see only caps though. Apparently the rest is down in the belly, including the two aluminum-encased chassis-mount caps that aren't there anymore. I wonder if at one time there was a kit to do this, or if this is a custom job? Also, there's something wrapped around the 6L6 audio tube. A shield of some kind perhaps?

It appears the two multisection capacitors have been replaced by the board next to the transformer. The rest of the boards are factory. Can't tell if that is a tube shield or the glass envelope of the tube bulging out as in a different tube (other than a 6L6) entirely than what is supposed to be. One thing for sure is the radio won't work without the BA board. Also you can see that three tubes and the relay is missing.

That is the shape of the tube itself. No shield added. What the tube number is ? All kind of mods were done to these radios. Including tube mods. And someone has just placed all the individual caps on PC board. Really not a bad idea. For someone that can't find or doesn't want to spend the money for twist lock replacement caps.

Yours still has the twist lock caps in it. There was no mod done for the BA board-it's just missing out of the radio your comparing to yours.
