Someone offered me a cb antenna, what kind It is approximately 12 foot in length, bottom section a foot. t has 4 grnd plane attachments, looks like a few small coils on the gamma match, and the top of the antenna looks like an egg beater attached? ? Any ideas on this mysterious guest or it's name??? Thanks DOCTOR/OT795

Any ideas on this mysterious guest or it's name??? Thanks DOCTOR/OT795 If you're referring to coils on the 4 radials, then it sounds like an Antenna Specialists Mighty Magnum. I believe it should be about 17' long.

The 12 foot part would make it a 1/3rd wave unless it has a load to compensate, that might be what the coils are for. The egg beater looking top is a static loop. It may or may not be for CB, might be a ground plane for a higher band. That's about all I can guess.

I would say it is a antenna specialist antenna. The price FREE, plus 50 feet of coax and a push up pole 25 feet, will pick it up this week. I already have a good antenna, Sirio 2016, also a loop antenna for dx also.
