I don't think that putting your 102 on top of a TV antenna is the best thing to do but who knows? Two antennas being that close together might interact to some degree but then the TV antenna might give you a good ground plane. Theory is one thing but actual use usually tells the real story. I'd say try it and find out how well it works, let us know.

Granted this setup will not give you the range and performance as a true base station ground plane antenna, but it is a bit more "stealthy", and it's better than nothing. I used to run a 102" whip on my 2nd floor rain gutter and that worked surprisingly well all things considered. The real silver lining to this cloud is that it's a way to experiment with antennas and learn a few things in the process. And stuff like that is what brings back some of my best memories of my early days in CB

Yeah, Sandbagger, all of that is true. I once mounted a K40 to a second floor rain gutter that was close to fifty feet long and it seemed to work as good as the A99 that I had mounted on the chimney. The reason I did that was my radio room was on the third floor using the A99. My radio shop was in the basement and I needed an antenna for on the air checks instead of just using a dummy load. I was amazed with the performance of the K40, shocked is a better word for it!
