I have 2 mobile radios. I want to put one of them in my son's 1993 Dodge Power Ram 250. I can't make up my mind on what one to install. I have a Realistic TRC-419 (40 channel) and a Cobra 19 DX lll (40 channel). What do you think would be the best choice ?? Thanks for your help guys.

I don't know how big the Realistic is but if you're cramped for space use the smallest radio. Just a thought.

The Realistic is the better radio...that cobra was a very problem-plagued model...

The Realistic is a normal size mobile radio. Over all I tend to agree with thejerk and go with it. I thank you guys for your input. Have a great day and I hope to catch you on the air waves.

I am not sure of the model Realistic you are speaking of. But I have had a couple issues w/ lots of static on the Realistic receive. The radio i am referring to is very similar to the Cobra 29 weather model. When stopped at a traffic light. The noise level goes up to mid scale. After a short time of that I took it back out of the mobile. Also a buddy of mine has a Dodge Pick up and has had the same problems. Just a heads up in case your son experiences the same issues. 73

If and when you use the cobra use a red devil amplified mic on it, it then comes alive. If you open it up you ought to tweak the modulation on it and you can squeeze the coils a weeee bit for 16 to 18 watts of power. My friend has one and gets out good around the county.

Thanks guys. I'm going to take all the info very seriously. I may even consider putting my Yaesu FT-2800M in the truck instead. Or both. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
