I just picked up a really nice Titan IV.Does any one know where I can find any Info on this rig.I have not seen to many of these things and Info is hard to find..Any one know the history behind this rig?I know I have a D-201A and there are plenty of those out there but you don't see the Titan IV's at all.Did they only make so many of these things.I had talked to Gregg Barkett and he had told me he has only ever seen like 2 of them in all the years he has been working on Trams...I knew it was a rare find, but I'm thinking it's more rare than I thought. Thanks for any Info...Dave

The radio was made right up until the introduction of the D201 in the 1974 timeframe. The original Titan was a 100% tube-type AM only radio, the Titan II added DSB transmit with SSB receive. The Titan IIa repackaged the Titan II in the woodgrained case. When the Titan III came out, the outside was identical to the Titan IIa, but the guts had gone from all tubes, to completely solid state, and it became a true SSB transmitter as well. There were rumors that the Titan III had issues with the transmit section, so the Titan IV reverted to a mostly solid state radio, with a tube final. It is also a true SSB radio, which the Titan II's were not (DSB transmit). Unfortunately, CBtricks does not have service info on any of the Titans. But the SAM's Photofacts are still available all the time on E-Pay, and they contain a fairly good schematic.

Well worth the price to have around. Sniper www.justradios.com/cbschematics.html#T

Spitfire (441) has a Titan IV and it is one of his better sounding radios. Has very natural, warm, and smooth sounding audio. Not a screamer, but definitely good sounding.

Very nice RX audio and fairly sensitive, less than .2uV @ 10db/sn. It is a little hard to use on SSB , It has a fine tune clairifier on TX and one for the RX as well as the main dial for RX SSB tune. Now all I need is a carpenter/cabnet maker to build me a box for it. I use a Turner +2 mic.
