Classic Radio Roundup went off as usual last night (2/4), with the normal local crowd present. But what was different this time was the ability to bring someone from the nether reaches of the internet into the local group. For the last year or so, we've had the streaming audio server available to allow those outside the local area to tune in and listen to those fine old classics as they strut their stuff. But it was a one-way deal. You could only listen to the CRR locals..... Until NOW! Last night Spitfire(441) with the help of his Kenwood radio control program and Yahoo audio instant messenger, was able to give Hy-Tower up in Canada full control of his TS-480 and allowed Hy-Tower to participate in the group. There were a few audio level adjustments that had to be made, but all-in-all, it was pretty cool.
We'll be exploring other possibilities to link to more appropriate classic CB radios, and seeing how many people can connect at the same time (if that's possible).
Classic Radio Roundup - Using today's technology to bring yesterday's technology to more people.

As Sandbagger said, we had a technological breakthru for CRR. (oxymoron?) It sure was fun to allow a regular subscriber to CRR via Spew Radio to actually participate in real time. I will aslo now explore the possiblity of interfaceing a classic rig for internet users to TX with. For now, we have found a way to bring all the classic radio fans from around the country into our local area. Also we will be exploring ways to allow multiple users for the round-up.

Now this is a much better idea than a 20 M net... If the net can handle the traffic without crapping out this would be KILLER! Maybe get the bugs worked out and a few people with net connections in the local group to host the links so a few of us "DX" stations can talk local there...

We plan to have multiple hosts for multiple users.
