Finding a good original Browning banana microphone is tough. I converted an EV 727 for use on a Mark III - just had to modify the PTT switch to momentary.
On the Browning microphones the elements are the usual failure point, and I've not had much luck finding a suitable replacement for them.
Look around on some of the auction sites if no one answers your post, you can sporadically find them there, but again there are no guarantees on how it will work - if indeed it even does - once you get it.

I have looked on ecrap and have found that resonable and banana mic's do not belong in the same sentence. And yes, try and find one that still works is almost impossible. I did myself a favor and stopped looking. Try estate sales in you're area. you may get lucky.

So, so true on those mics. I have one here that has the typical bad element. It's also all beat up and I don't have the base for it, I know that you don't want that. I sold a pristine one a couple of years ago for $15.00 before I knew what they're worth and how rare. I think that I saw a Heil replacement element listed somewhere (probably on their website), but that was about three years ago too.

I think I have an old junker banana mic somewhere around here. Maybe I'll try and dig it out and see if I can do a Heil element swap. I still have a few HC-4 and a HC-5 elements lying around.

What does the Heil mic Element replacement do?

What does the Heil mic Element replacement do? As we mentioned above, the main failure of the banana microphone is that the element fails and there is no replacement elements made anymore, and no one stocks the old parts. What you can try and do is substitute a different element to revive the microphone.
