Hello cbkidd1, That resistor is not hard to find. Fixer, barkett, mousar, or even rad shack will have these. But be prepared for an adventure as r 229 burning usually means other troubles caused it to fail. caps, mode switch , so on and so forth. The techs on here can give you the rest of the story in better detail. Good luck.......... Phantom1

Hi, phantom1, I talked to Alan. He said he could send me the resistor. He really helps me out a lot.He thinks it's the mode switch. When I bought the mark iv it worked great. And then the led's started to go on and off. So come to fine out. I had to replace the ping cap.The -9 volt reg board along with the cap.I have had so many of these. This is the first one i have ever owned that needed so many things replaced. lol. I payed 400.00 for the thing. And i would say about 150.00 in parts.Off witch some i have not put in yet.I just had spin surgery done. And don't really have the money right now to buy the mode switch. So i am thinking about just selling it for 200.00 with all the parts i got for it.It should work fine after the resistor and mode switch are replaced. Or sure would make a good parts radio. When it was working she would dk 4 watts and swing to 20.And had very nice audio. I even have a mark 3 desk mic with a new cord i put on. With the help paper work and parts from Alan. To make it work on the mark iv. I just never had the time to put a end on it. Now i know what the 100,000 mile tune up is for.

You should be able to pick up that resistor ant Radio Shack. I have not checked thier selection latley. There are a number of things that can make your PLL fall out of lock. I update all the PLL's with the factory changes.
